got better as it went on but is kinda plagued by the first 33% of the game or so which is just kinda so/so. also hurt my eyes to look at sometimes

I'm literally falling asleep even thinking about this game. If it was just cut down by like 20 hours it'd be infinitely better, but the pacing is so horrible and so much of the game is so boring, it completely drowns out the cool stuff. The voice acting is also weirdly baffling and extremely uncanny. Nobody talks like a normal person and makes it very difficult to connect to them

This game is my Moby Dick. I feel insane every time I see discourse surrounding it.

The story is nonsense. Most of the chapters are filler. The characters are uncharismatic and uninteresting. Gameplay is slow and clunky. Side quests are fetchy garbage.

As far as positives, Midgar is a pretty cool-ass setting, even if it's not utilized well at all, and the story beats that attempt to build up a mystery for later, through the visions, are decently well made.

All that said, I kind of hate this game, and I'm very surprised that I seem to be the old man shouting at clouds in this discussion.

Maybe if I'd played the original I'd like this more, but I don't think so.

First time i genuinely enjoyed a visual novel. Great voice acting, art style and gameplay.
Ln'eta > Nyanlathotep > Estir

I've been low-key obsessed with the symbiote since I was a little kid. And at a certain point in my life, I was kinda tired of Symbiote stories in main Spidey media. But this, this honestly feels like a love letter to all the Symbiote has to offer. The Insomniac Team has done a ridiculously good job making and adapting their own version of the Black Suit Storyline while making many homages to the history of the Symbiotes.
Now that I've got that off my chest, this game is so fun to play. The web-wings are a wonderful addition to web-swinging that I was a little unsure of at first, but I quickly grew to love it. The combat has been modified a little bit to make it more streamlined. Gone is the gadget wheel. Gadgets have now been assigned to the simple hold of the R1 button, followed by whatever button you press at the time. I almost didn't realize how much I relied on the slow down of time when the gadget wheel was up in SM(2018) and SM:MM. Now that it's gone, I had to adapt to not being able to slow down time and think. Which I think led to me becoming more focused in the combat as a result. They also added a parry feature that took me a whiiile for me to get used to but is very handy when I remembered it existed. The bosses in this game are set to new ridiculous heights. Nearly every boss in the game was engaging and pretty hard for me personally. Granted, I played the game on Spectacular so I'm sure that didn't help some. But the bosses are a HUGE improvement from the first two games in the series.
The storyline (I won't be talking spoilers so no worries) was very interesting, aside from the Black Suit, Kraven was a menacing villain. I honestly wasn't expecting them to go as hard as they did with Kraven in the game but I'm glad they did. The dynamics between the characters I feel were very well fleshed out, and they all play very well with the themes that the story is telling.
Near the end of the game, it was getting a little glitchy, but nothing that really took me out of it when the main story was happening. I was a cube at some point when I was trying to switch costumes, so that was funny.
TLDR: This game frickin good. My only Nitpick is that I wish there were more Symbiote based suits.

playing this gave me a ratatouille anton ego flashback moment where i was a kid again, playing twilight princess for the first time ever. i can't wait to replay it sometime soon
