As a kid I loved the original and I was pleased when I saw this coming out. The quality of life changes in this are great and the visuals grew on me over time. I truly loved playing through this and I think it was my favorite rpg that came out in 2023. If you like minmaxing skills and stats this game does it well.

Probably my favorite non indie game of last year. From the acting to the visuals to the music it was awesome. While combat did get repetitive that was really my only issue with it. The characters were enjoyable and I loved switching between both characters. The use of fmv over the world looked so good and the story kept me hooked. In a lot of ways the gameplay felt like a classic survival horror from the PS2 era.

While an improvement to previous titles some parts dragged on. I get Kraven is there to build up the story but he’s such a boring villain. Other than that I really liked the side story stuff and how they connected to the main story which pushed me to do all of them. The new powers were really cool and as cool as fast traveling was in this nothing beats the ease of gliding and swinging.

A fantastic horror game that kept my attention the whole way through. At first the art turned me away as I didn’t grow up with that era but it worked so well with the themes and the story I loved it at the end. The mocap segments(cutscenes) was so damn cool too. This game is awesome and if it looked even remotely interesting to you I highly recommend it.

An interesting “horror” game that was about only an hour long. You jump into paintings and face the problem residing in them. It was a different idea that I would’ve loved to see more of. The art style of the paintings was really cool too. The music was interesting as it sucked me in with its somewhat shoegazey title track then jumped to different genres.

A great strategy rpg with a fun cast and a rollercoaster of difficult battles. For most of the game I had an easy time but come towards the end and it was a struggle. Overall I really enjoyed it and want to play more from the franchise.

A short but amazing game. I didn't really know what to expect going in but wow, it went places. I think this is a must play that touches on some serious stuff.

The beauty of just cruising in this world is almost unparallel. Trying to fully build the highway was such a rewarding experience, especially when you saw others using it. The story was different and grew on me as time went on. The attention to detail in this is crazy and man I loving standing in the rain, even if it hurts.

A pretty original idea that had some interesting puzzle segments in it. You play as a DJ taking calls in and each one is dealing with a killer that's on the loose. Most "calls" usually have a puzzle in them so be prepared for that. I felt like this game really had it's ups and downs and both really balanced the game out for me. Nothing that blew me away but it was an interesting take on the subject.

A short title with an interesting story behind it. Touching on the subject of letting go it also throws in some other interesting ideas. I loved the style of this game and stands out from the rest, much like the developers other titles (Distraint). The puzzles weren't too hard and the characters were interesting.

A short horror experience for the DS which there are not many of. The graphics aren't bad for the handheld but man those controls really annoyed me. There were times it got a bit creepy but nothing scary. The boss fights were a bit funny and a bit frustrating. It was cool seeing what the DS was capable of in terms of horror though.

Played the Enhanced Edition on PC and it was a perfect experience. With some quality of life improvements it made me love the game even more. The voice acting always made me chuckle and the creepiness of the second half of the game was awesome.

Looking back at the first Alan Wake after finishing it's sequel it's crazy how far different it felt. While not a bad game it definitely had it's super repetitive moments and quite a bit of needless combat. The story is enjoyable and I do like the "Remedyverse" a lot, especially after playing Control. If you're jumping into this after playing the sequel then prepare for a rough ride.

Oxenfree was a game I had heard people always bring up in indie game conversations but never actually checked it out. The way dialogue choices are treated in this game was so enjoyable an as much as I wish more games would do something similar, it did become stressful at times. It's a great game and I'm glad I played it.

The start of this dlc is intense and has its ups and downs. The acting was great and Dogtown grew on me. Fully walking around the inhabited spaces along with jumping on roofs provided some awesome scenes. I really liked the base game a lot and coming back to it with this was a great time. Doing all the gigs and a good chunk of the smaller stuff got me to around 20ish hours so I’d say the price was about right.
