What can I even say?

This game is a masterpiece through and through. I have never smiled and laughed at any other game as much as I have here. I've also never been this blown away at a game before. I think the part that sold me was when the game starts talking to you the second time you log into it. It was fun playing around and trying to find out how to get each ending. I found the narrator charmingly amusing the whole way through. This game can both be weird fun and strangely sad and somber at the same time. In one play through you will be laughing the entire way through and the next you can be close to tears. This game has officially bumped Doom 2016 out of my top five.

Wow...

What can I even say to do this game justice? Alan Wake 2 is an absolute masterpiece. This is one of the most creative and unique gaming experiences I've had in a long time.

I completely fell in love with the game after the impromptu Old Gods of Asgard concert. I love the story in this game. It was a gripping and intense tale while being complex, was never confusing.

I loved the dual protagonists. Saga was an engaging and well written character.
Alan, while acting a little different when compared to ow he was in the first game, is great too. The level design was absolutely genius and maybe some of the best I have ever experienced.

Playing as Alan and switching between realities in order to progress was both challenging and rewarding.

Saga's mind place was a interesting and fresh idea. You literally go inside of her head to solve the crime. Piecing together all the clues to try and solve each cold case. It's amazing. The usage of live action cut scenes was something that I know is pretty common in Remedy games, but I never really experienced before. It was one of my favorite aspects.

My only gripe is the gameplay. The gameplay wasn't bad, not by a long shot. I managed to get through the game without much headache. It just felt a little outdated and stiff. The dodging to me was the worst aspect. You're character barely moves when they dodge meanwhile enemies will hit you with a combo that deals massive amounts of damage. I found the lack of weapon variety to be a little anoying. Everything kinda felt like the same. The boss battles could've been done better. They were quite shallow and dull. I don't really remember one that sticks out that well.

I also don't love the idea of the "real" ending of the game being locked behind the New Game + play though. I mean if the game was shorter I'd understand. But its a 17 hour long game. If I didn't have other games I wanted to play. I probably would've played it all the way through again.

I hate how long it took me to play this. But God damn was it good. One of the best games I have played in a very...very long time.

Is the game fun...yes

Is it my thing....not really.
