I was forced to play this for a bet by some dickhead and I have actually lost all hope and I now want to kill myself

Hey there everybody!

This is Luke from Streets™! Did you know my favorite things are jumping into a drive impact, stale bread, ice without any water, the newest season of Family Guy, annnnnd sand! See you in Street Fighter 6 everybody!

To put it simply, this game is perfection. Mechanics, movement, combos and weapons have never been blended into a game as well as Devil May Cry 3 has managed to accomplish. This game rewards the player who chooses to spend their time learning the in’s and out’s of this game thoroughly through gameplay.

The game has evolved the combat that was present in the original game to a new standard that can only make every subsequent sequel chase to replicate. The combat feels tight and responsive but not stiff and restrictive. The lock-on system present is perfect, you can change direction in your combo to a snap and the dedicated lock-on button compliments this perfectly. You will never run into the issue of doing a move you didn’t want to do or lock onto an enemy that you didn’t want to hit. The camera is also a big improvement from the original, it isn’t perfect by any means but is almost never a hindrance on gameplay as much as it was in the first game. Weapons are all unique and very fun to use and learn how to effectively use them. On subsequent playthroughs it is always fun to choose which weapons you will carry to optimally eliminate the enemies present in the mission with the elemental weakness system. Rebellion is a great all around tool that allows you to perform pretty much any action you would want from a melee weapon, Cerberus is a fun fast-paced weapon that shreds through enemies in 1 on 1 encounters; the swinging of the nunchucks also allows to protect yourself from projectiles if timed right, Agni and Rudra are a good heavy weapon that is great for tankier and slower enemies, Nevan is the perfect crowd control tool against fodder enemies that can thrown out to easily get SSS combos with Jam Session, Beowulf are very fun gauntlets that have slow startup on moves but can easily dish out the most damage in the game especially paired with jump canceling. The guns are also balanced here to be a keep away tool that can be used to dish out more damage while also not being too powerful to incentivise you to never use the melee weapons. On that note, jump canceling is a great tool that experienced players can use to always stay in the air and keep enemies in the air as a result and deal massive damage. The on the fly weapon switching is also perfected from Devil May Cry 2 and the mission structure, enemies and level design have been perfectly balanced to create a good balance of picking and choosing what weapons to take in while also giving you enough freedom to customize how you want to play each mission. The new style system is also the best thing the game added and creates even more depth in choices already present with the combat. Trickster allows you to move in the air easier and be able to dodge better, this is perfect for keeping your combos in the air while also allowing you to cancel out of moves into a dash that has longer invincibility and goes further than the standard dodge roll. Gunslinger is a great tool to keep enemies away and extend combos. Swordmaster is an extremely fun style to use and is my preferred go-to style; it allows you to use more special moves and be able to create extremely stylish combos and deal more damage. Royal Guard is a tool that gets extremely better with practice, at first the style is relatively limited in use but as you level it up, it easily opens the game up and allows you to obliterate enemies and bosses with correct timing on parrying attacks, it rewards the player who studies the attack patterns and behaviors of every enemy in the game. Quicksilver slows down time, primarily used to make more flashy combos and get more damage in a bosses window of attack. Doppelganger summons a Devil Trigger clone of Dante in Rebellion form, once again used for flashy combos and doing more damage, can also be used to damage with two different weapons at once. Another great detail to note is the taunt system. With a higher style rank, you gain access to a more flashy and flamboyant taunt that also gains tons of Devil Trigger gauge. Everything in this game incentivizes you to play better and more stylishly. Speaking of Devil Trigger, the system is new and improved here. It drops the customization from Devil May Cry 2 in order to provide a more balanced tool that allows you to strategize when and how you use your Devil Trigger. You gain faster movement speed, reduced damage, you can tank through certain attacks. You also gain certain effects from which weapon you are using when you are in Devil Trigger. For example, Rebellion is an all around stat boost, Cerberus increases your attack speed, Agni and Rudra enhances your elemental properties, Nevan allows you to fly in the air and use the exclusive Air Raid move, Beowulf improves your defense. This game's combat system is perfect and is so much fun to explore and improve your game. The game also has insane replayability and experienced players can eventually beat the game in one sitting with no difficulty.

The level design is also the best in the series, the mission variety is vast and creates a unique experience for every mission. It still has the interconnected level design present from Devil May Cry and its roots from Resident Evil while also having a fair share of linear levels that creates a nice blend between both. Whether you are traveling through the Temen Ni Gru solving light puzzles and obtaining key items, or fighting enemies inside of a leviathan's intestines, or defeating enemies in and around Dante’s shop, or fighting chest pieces in hell, every mission is unique and very fun to go through. The game could do without the platforming, it obviously was not made for it.

The soundtrack is also incredible, each track is very memorable. Some standout tracks are the theme that plays in Mission 1(Raising the Devil), Dante’s Battle Track 1 (Taste the Blood), Cerberus’s theme literally saying it wants you dead, Nevan’s theme, the theme that plays while you are making your way through the Underworld, every Vergil fight (especially his last battle), and the classic Devils Never Cry track.

An often overlooked aspect of this game is the narrative and how the characters intertwine with the narrative. It is much deeper in depth than most people give it credit for. The game explores the themes of responsibility, family ties, and sacrifice. Dante evolves from being a typical teenager who doesn’t give a damn about anything going on to eventually realizing that he has an important job to fulfill in society and to protect those who he loves and cares for. Lady and Dante also compliment each other in the narrative, Lady initially believes that every demon is completely incapable of having emotions but after she meets Dante, she realizes that there may be demons out there who do have a soul and are willing to protect humans while Dante realizes the importance of family and fulfilling his purpose has mentioned before. Arkham is also a great villain. He is a master manipulator and should deserve some credit for being able to manipulate Dante, Vergil, and Lady into doing what he wants them to do. Too bad his boss fight isn’t great. Vergil is the best rival character in video game history and enhances the narrative beyond belief. He is power hungry while also not being evil. His quest for power isn’t to rule the world, he is beyond traumatized from his childhood (this event is explained in DMC5 and in the manga) where he was left stranded without power. He vowed to never be powerless again so that is why he will obtain it no matter what. He initially kicks your ass and questions if Dante’s ignorance of his demonic power is right. He also replicates the player's journey in this game, he improves as you improve with each fight, gaining new tools and moves as you gain new tools and moves. It all culminates in the final showdown between them where Vergil, obsessed with power, chooses to deny his humanity because he views it as a weakness while Dante over the course of the game chooses to accept both his human and demonic sides, balancing his soul and is able to beat Vergil.

Speaking of that final fight, it is not just the best final boss fight of all time, but is the best boss fight in all of gaming. Both Dante and Vergil had been learning new skills and obtaining new weapons which all builds up to the final battle where both Dante and Vergil are at the peak of their powers. Vergil is a tough boss fight, you will get your ass kicked until he forces you to learn all of his moveset and where and when you can attack him. The environment and soundtrack that plays during the fight are both impeccable as well, it makes it the most memorable fight in all of Devil May Cry apart from the other fight with Vergil in Devil May Cry 5.

There is so much more I can talk about the game but I believe it is better to experience it first hand. Capcom and Itsuno made a gem of a game that will withstand the test of time as not only one of the best action games of all time, but one of the best games of all time.

This is the peak of the Metal Gear franchise and the peak of Kojima's work. The blend of story, gameplay, environment, and characters create a unique experience that will never be replicated by any other game. The tragic tale of Big Boss losing his only friend; being betrayed by their own government perfectly ties into the rest of the series with Big Boss's eventual descent into villainy and the organizations and plotlines from previous and future games. The story is mostly self contained and is very easy for any newcomer to dive into. It paces itself perfectly and will deliver a perfect ending.

Gameplay has been perfected and perfectly suits the era in which this game takes place. You must use every element of stealth and tool given to you to be able to go undetected in this game. But, that doesn't mean you are limited to just stealth as the weapon sandbox allows you to go full Rambo, alert every guard and kill every single one of them like I did once I reached Groznyj Grad. The caution sequences actually mean something here, you are encouraged to go undetected as much as possible with the Caution phases taking much longer to pass. They will be active for 3 minutes of gameplay. Now you can just hide and sit in a corner for the duration of it but the game brings a challenge to the player and encourages them to sneak during caution due to the length of it. The camo system is an interesting concept that unfortunately is hindered by having to go through 2 different menus every 30 seconds if you want to play with perfect stealth. Your outfit will interact with the environment and determine how visible you are to guards. Your movement also will determine it; Do you run and risk leaving yourself very visible to guards or do you slow yourself down and crawl in order to not be spotted. If the hinderance of the menu didn't slow gameplay to a crawl this would have been a perfect system. The stamina system is also new here. You will need to eat food to replenish your stamina bar. You can obtain this by either finding rations on guards or food storage closets or you can hunt wildlife and eat them as well. Yes, you can truly become a Snake Eater in this game. This system is important as if it drops, you will regenerate health slower and your stomach will growl. This can actually alert the guards if you're unlucky enough. It also is more important as in this game you will receive less instant health items as compared to previous games.

The soundtrack is once again full of iconic tracks. Snake Eater is a classic, the alert and caution themes are once again fun to hear and add to gameplay and the surrounding atmosphere with the jungle flair of the beat, Ocelot's theme is a fun beat reminiscent of a younger Ocelot, Battle in the Base is a theme so good you will almost want to get caught in order to hear it. The main theme feels like a Bond action film. Kojima loves his cinema and will always love to gain inspiration from them. It is only ever more disappointing that it will never be used again due to it being plagiarized off of Georgy Sviridov. The track with the epilogue and credits song will more than likely bring a tear to your eyes.

Characters for the most part are great. Big Boss for the most part feels like a vessel the character can portray themselves onto, Ocelot is a cheeky, cunning anti-villain who you will grow to love by the end of the game, The Boss is a mysterious figure who you will shed a tear for by the end of the game, EVA is a good companion, Volgin is an imposing villain who you will be fearful of from the beginning till the end, your supporting radio unit are a new but familiar experience to the crew from the first game. The only characters that feel lacking in quality are the Cobra Unit. They do not have much background present in the game and feel like empty voids of the Foxhound unit in Metal Gear Solid. The Sorrow and The End are exceptions to this. Their boss fights are so unique and will leave you giddy with excitement.

This game is timeless, it should be celebrated as one of the best games of all time and I hope every person who considers themselves a "gamer" to experience this game.

This will remain the best fighting game ever. Best roster, best soundtrack, best movement and combo routes. This game is full of soul; all of the Capcom and Marvel characters have been translated so faithfully into the game with their move sets, character quotes and voice lines, their voice actors, costumes. It's so fun and rewarding to get good in this game. This game will never die. #MAHVELBABY

best game to play while one of my professors rambles about bullshit

Ok real review time:

I really thought that the Resident Evil 2 Remake could not be topped but this game has really given it a run for its money. When this was being announced I doubted that it would be able to even come near to the original, but Capcom once again has delivered with an absolutely PHENOMENAL game. Just about everything has been improved from the original. Gameplay now feels even better with being able to move and shoot and the enemies have compensated for that by being relentless; they will never give you a moment's rest. The remake is leagues harder than the original and I personally am in love. The game also did a great job of slowly giving you more ammo and better weapons which created a fun evolution of what you were able to do while in combat. Stealth kills are something I didn't know I wanted, it is so fun to sneak around like you're Solid Snake and get the jump on some unsuspecting Ganados. The parry is the greatest addition to the combat. It adds so many layers of depth with how you can approach combat and creates a great game of offense and defense which isn't present in the original. Guns felt great to use and upgrade, they felt just as satisfying to use as the original. Ashley finally isn't as annoying to manage due to her pretty much being invincible and her solo section is much better. Bosses in the remake have also been improved. The highlight of the new renditions of the bosses is the fight with Krauser. Krauser’s fight may just be one of my favorite bosses in gaming. Each phase slowly speeds up in intensity and if you haven’t mastered or been using the parry mechanic effectively up until this point you will need to as this fight demands it in order to not die within 15 seconds. Not to mention how they have made his boss theme even better than the original with a supporting choir and full orchestra. His fight truly encapsulates what the original and remake are all about: Nonstop action and thrills. Salazar’s boss is again one that was reworked significantly. His fight is now a pretty difficult fight where you will need to be constantly moving while at the same time keeping a steady aim as he will fly around the room and dodge your bullets. He in the end still got the rocket launcher to the face treatment that I also gave him in the original because that is what the little shit deserves. The characters and story actually exist in this game. The original was never good because of the story or characters but in the remake they shine through. They did get rid of a lot of the camp that the original played and thrived off of but I am still a big fan of the serious yet still lighthearted tone of the remake. Leon is still as badass as ever, Ashley this time around isn't just a helpless damsel and has a pretty good character arc of learning how to take care of yourself, Luis finally isn’t just a one off character and is given much more screen time which makes parts where he is with you in the game much more enjoyable, Krauser finally has good motivation for his actions and is much more fleshed out with his background than in the original where he felt very dull, and Sadler isn't just a generic and cheesy villain anymore. The only character that didn't feel improved from the original was Salazar. He lost a lot of the charm which made him such a fun little bastard in the original. I also have to point out Ada and Wesker's voice actors. I didn't feel like Capcom chose the right people for those characters. Soundtrack is incredible, there are plenty of remixed classic tracks with an orchestra now backing them up and plenty of great new songs like the song that plays during the village opening sequence. Capcom once again hit it out of the park with their Resident Evil remakes and I can only be left anxious and excited for what they will do in the future with Resident Evil 9 and a potential remake of Code Veronica or Resident Evil 5. An easy 10/10 that so far is my undisputed GOTY. I would even go as far to say that this game has surpassed the original. This game and Resident Evil 2 should be the golden standard for remakes in the industry.

This game definitely lives up to the hype it has been given. Everything I had heard about the game ended up being more than what I expected. Gorgeous game, Kamurocho and Sotenbori both look incredible at night time with all of the neon signs and the lively environment. I really enjoyed the switch to a fully rendered map: there are now only a few load zones for the entirety of both maps. It is something I didn't know I wanted until I played this game. The characters stand out in this game, they were able to keep the story engaging throughout the entirety of the game which I can't say was the case for Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami. The story was executed to near perfection and made for a really good finale that felt deserved. Soundtrack is once again very good. Oumi Attack, Worry, and Ryuji's final boss theme were my standout favorites. Combat felt rewarding and fun to play around with, my favorite addition was the regrab after the end of a combo. My only complaint with this game was it felt far too easy to level up with the EXP system being completely broken by eating meals and using the laxatives. A very impressive remake of the original that I highly recommend.

as a halo player I always default to using the pistol and jumping during every gunfight while forgetting everytime that I am not a spartan and I don't jump 8 feet in the air

(REVIEW PURELY FOR THE PORT, NOT THE GAMES THEMSELVES)

I was willing to look past the problems with the HD collection (effects are worse compared to the originals and you can't tab out of DMC1 and DMC2 unless you want the game to crash, only can go up to 1080p resolution, locked at 60 FPS) until tonight where I lost 17 hours of playtime on a Dante save file because I accidentally overwrite it with a vergil save file. I am so unbelievably livid because I had almost maxed out all of Dante's styles, weapons, health, Devil Trigger, etc and was getting ready to play through on Dante Must Die. This is another lazy pc port by Capcom and while the games run fine, it just screams lazy and unoptimized when the effects are somehow worse than the PS2 originals and the save file system in DMC3 is somehow still not fixed to allow the characters to not overwrite each other's save data.

Why would anyone want to pay $60 for a game that looks like the “Hire this man” meme

10 years in the joint made you a fucking pu- gets blown up by the marlin cannon (https://imgur.com/a/A5sDlOx). I like to think of this game as Yakuza 0 Part 2. Quite honestly they could have squeezed this into DLC for 0 but I'm glad they decided to spend more time and make this a faithful remake of the original. Story started off with a bang with Kiryu getting expelled from the Tojo clan and then coming back after 10 years to crash the party. I will admit however that it did slow down for a good majority of the mid game and only picked up in the last 2 chapters. Really liked the ending, it was solid. Gameplay is more or less a new flavor of Kiryu's combat from 0. Dragon style is fun to relearn however and adds a new depth to the combat, especially with the new Kiwami Art Heat Actions. Seeing Kiryu turn into Kenshiro and doing the Hokuto Senjukai Ken on Majima is a sight to behold. The soundtrack is really really good, I liked all of the remixed tracks from the original. The general combat theme never got old, Majima's battle theme is great and the final boss theme adds to the atmosphere of the fight. I think I like this game just as equally as 0 and I'm looking forward to Kiwami 2 with the new Dragon Engine.
