--------------------
Very casual
Stunning art style
Well-written fairy tale stories
Collect resources and craft potions, traps and spells
The crafting chains are lengthy (collect 2 items for A, but you also need to craft B out of XYZ for which you need…)
Gathering and crafting gets grindy over time and isn’t rewarding
No combat, no challenging puzzles, no gameplay progress
Everything is spelled out for you

Fun & challenging bullet hell combat
Great enemy/boss variety
Satisfying progression
Many different melee, ranged and magic weapons
Crafting & upgradable weapons
No skillpoints (easy to switch to another build)
Further customization with badges (perks)
Diverse biomes with different resources
Beautiful pixel graphics
Extremely polished
3 difficulty options
Couch co-op

Deep and interesting sci-fi story
Beautiful pixel art and great character design
Fun combat with innovative mechanics (organ transplantation,
steal healing items from enemies, their damage multiplies on successful hits)
Plenty of customization
Great soundtrack

Overpowered equipment
Repetitive enemies and locations
Jerky character animation
* 2 characters & biomes instead of 7 that were pitched on Kickstarter

--------------------

Linear, story-driven, single player action adventure game
You only play as Star Lord and give commands to the other Guardians
There are 4 abilities for each character + perks and elemental shots for Peter
Visually stunning with unique alien worlds that are fun to explore
Amazing story and team dynamic
Great voice acting and solid motion capture
Impressive amount and quality of dialogues
Awesome soundtrack (iconic 80s hits, orchestral score and an original hard rock album)

Combat isn’t challenging, but fun
Choices have little impact
Abilities are overused during exploration
Dialogues are often cut off when entering a new section
* Occasional Quick Time Events

One of the best releases this year!

--------------------

Positive:
Map exploration instead of following a set path: uncover fights, events, items and gold
Interesting mechanics like the importance of your heroes position and team synergies
Card modification: significantly upgrade or change cards with gems
Epilogue system: choose from different challenges that make the game harder
Charming artstyle

Neutral:
Fat deck system that incentivizes building larger decks (less predictable, quantity over quality)
Hardly any way to remove cards, but it’s possible (yet pricey) to transform them
Initial paid day 1 DLC is now included in the base game

Negative:
No run history or statistics
Only 4 heroes and 2 of them feel uninspired
Needs more content, especially more unique cards for a greater variety of builds
Too easy (even worsened by unlocking permanent perks in the skilltree)
* No custom mode or daily challenges: low replayability compared to StS & Monster Train

Easy to pick up
Clever mechanics
No time limit
Clean & simple look
Classic mode is not as relaxing as it might seem. There’s actually plenty of strategy involved
Multiple updates since I reviewed it in May: new biome, tiles, challenges and achievements.
They also added a save function, statistics and a relaxing creative mode.

Positive:
Exploring, gathering and crafting is just as fun and addictive as in Subnautica
Stunning visuals - by far the most beautiful underwater exploration game
Great creature designs
Explore and advance at your own pace
Improved base building and new vehicles, rooms and equipment
New survival element on the surface: temperature
Atmospheric weather system
Amazing soundtrack

Neutral:
Subnautica’s atmosphere is much more tense and immersive
Finding the next point of interest sometimes requires thorough exploration
Amazing idea for a story, but unfortunately it ends up feeling rushed and unpolished

Negative:
Less biomes that also lack diversity compared to Subnautica
The biomes of the late game are quite empty and boring
Progression is too easy and quick: I missed the challenge and sense of achievement

Overall it’s an incredibly fun and beautiful game that is overshadowed by the masterpiece that was it’s predecessor.

--------------------

Positive:
Fascinating biomes with diverse lifeforms to explore
Perfect progression: curiosity to explore, discovery of new resources and blueprints,
ability to craft equipment that allows you to dive deeper, repeat
Well implemented survival elements
Simple but functional base building
Beautiful visuals
Captivating story
Incredibly immersive
Freedom to experience the game at your own pace
Amazing atmosphere, accompanied with a perfect soundtrack

Negative:
Terrain pops in and breaks immersion, especially when using vehicles

Still one of the most unique, fun and exciting games I’ve experienced so far and one of my all-time favorites!

--------------------

Positive:
Fluid, fast-paced twin-stick combat
Stunning visuals & impressive level of detail
Isometric camera with interesting perspective shifts
Immersive atmosphere
Solid variety of weapons and augmentations
Amazing sound design

Neutral:
Mediocre story without choices and consequences
Only light RPG elements – no elaborate skill system
No randomized loot, no modifications
No procedurally generated map
No endgame content

Negative:
Needs more bug fixing
Map is difficult to read
Game automatically adjusts difficulty (easier enemies after dying)

My review is about the single player experience. I only did some quick co-op tests. There are people who lost all their progress when joining a friend's game. The only thing I lost were all my weapon skins.

--------------------

Positive:
Interesting approach to narration (procedurally generated sequence)
Memorable characters
Diverse locations
Many different minigames
Great soundtrack

Neutral:
Exaggerated/cringy characters
Story is heavily focused on politics

Negative:
Ambiguous advertising (“thousands of roads to freedom” is more about the random order of scenes than about choice and consequence)
Frustrating illusion of choice in many scenes
Low-res textures and stiff animations
* Framedrops in some areas

Honestly, this one is hard to review. The frequent illusion of choice killed it for me, but I feel like most people will still really enjoy this game.

--------------------

Positive:
Beautiful setting
Amazing voice acting
Charming and relatable characters
Great facial animations, at least for Alex
Well written dialogues, much more mature than LiS 1
Interesting superpower that allows a deeper understanding and connection to the characters
It’s possible to replay subchapters to try different choices or find missed collectibles
All chapters are available on release day

Negative:
It’s way too expensive
The ending is very unrealistic
Unskippable dialogues/cutscenes
Unnatural pauses between sentences
* Choices are not as impactful as they might seem

--------------------

Positive:
Great visuals
Fluid, fast-paced combat
Fun boss battles
Amazing Soundtrack
Interesting level design
Overall extremely polished
You get to be a cute crow

Neutral:
No way to change difficulty
Both puzzles and combat are rather simple
Stat upgrades are barely noticeable

Negative:
* (I didn’t want it to end)

I absolutely adore this game and can’t recommend it enough!

--------------------

Positive:
Beautiful art style inspired by Moebius
Well-written dialogues
Open world exploration
Clear minimalistic approach
Stamina-based climbing and almost everything is climbable
Collectibles like clothes and creatures that increase your stamina
Freedom to decide how long you want your journey to be

Neutral:
Simple puzzles and quests
Experience over gameplay
Casual and relaxing: no combat or fall damage

Negative:
Insane amount of bugs
Stuttering and FPS drops
Wobbly hover bike
Everything besides the main locations feels empty
* Unique but insufficient worldbuilding

Not recommended in it’s current bug-ridden state.

Choices really have an impact
Quick Time Events create tension
Great environments & atmosphere
Interesting story, characters and threat
Multiple unique deaths for each playable character
Little gameplay: more like an interactive movie
More action than horror
About 6 hours long with high replayability
Excellent voice acting and sound design
Multiplayer modes (2P online & up to 5P couch co-op)
* New additions: full camera control during exploration and difficulty levels
