I knew nothing about this game or the controversy around it, I went into it thinking it'd be some kind of weird communist brawler with Bruce Lee, what a bunch of weird piss I ran into.

Champion Boxing is the first videogame directed by Yu Suzuki. I like boxing games a lot so i figured i'd check this out.

It's footsies type of game, as you can easily go back and forth to bait your oponent and keep winning. Blocking can be useful but I wasn't able to punish a lot. The cheapness from good old boxing games comes when your oponent randomly decides to unleash a flurry of attacks on you until you're knocked down but most of the time, I was able to get up, worst case scenario you get TKO'd which seems to be random.

Very visually appealing, I wish the fighters would change when you beat them as you always fight the same dude and it's just keeps getting harder, but hey it's an arcade game from 1983. Always cool to visit videogame developers first works.

While Ninja Gaiden is absolutely grueling and it's level design (specially on it's last 2 stages) is something that 33 years later would be considered outdated and cheap, the controls being so smooth and responsive makes up for most of the flaws presented.

Funny cutscenes, catchy soundtrack and just a lot of great satisfaction all around. If you're having trouble in the latter levels, try searching some secret tech, such as cancelling your sword mid-air so you can do more attacks before you touch the ground, really helpful in the last few bosses!

Altered Beast without the flick charm and cool sound design.

I played the japanese version since in the NA one they cut out Hokuto no Ken stuff (this game is a sequel to the Mark III HNK game). Hoping that it'd be cooler, it's pretty much the same with the only difference being that the enemies explode in HNK style and the characters of course. This might sound cool but it's just dull, a lot of levels get reused with different color schemes and the audio is boring.
Oh and talking about Altered Beast, this game is hard as shit and not in the fun way, die once and it's back to the beginning.

Overall pretty dissapointing, nothing that stuck out other than punching axes and knifes which hey, it's kinda cool.

A pretty fun boss gauntlet game, known for it's clunky controls that require a bit of time/patience to get used to, when you do, it feels good. Timing is essential, as managing your ammo/force levels is a big part of the game, you have to keep an eye on them to change weapons quickly, maximize your damage and not get caught in a bad situation. The clock is always running and every second counts.
For the most part, I thought the bosses were pretty fun, there's a lot of cool level designs and they're are always working against you. I found some bosses mildly annoying and towards the end, kind of disappointing. Which upon reading on it, it reflects how much ambition this game had and it's craving for more that never made it into the final product.

Nonetheless, going into it blind and knowing nothing about it, i had a great time and i'd recommend it to anyone that is looking for a challenge as this game is quite unforgiving and ruthless at times, definitely one of the toughest on the Mega Drive.

The Magnus Opus of fighting games. Nothing will ever come close to this level of gameplay satisfaction, accompanied with a familiar roster in this clash of worlds.

Also available on Fightcade, with the best netcode available in the industry, superb. A must play for Taken and Shenmue fans.

JJ is a puzzle-platformer with really cool unique mechanics, a great visual style and that Swery touch that any fan of his works will recognize. The level design is pretty good and works well with it's mechanics, there wasn't a level I particularly disliked.
I didn't like the voice acting, it felt dull on important moments, and some of the writing is cliché, eye-rolling at times, but it ultimately accomplishes it's goal.

This a get on sale game, $25 is too much. I'm glad Swery still hasn't lost his touch, i'm definitely excited for his upcoming games.

2018

"The roguelike for people that don't like roguelike"

Hades excels where a lot of other games in the genre don't. Having an absurd amount of character dialogue and narrative, it provides you with a motive and large variety of ways to play right off the bat which helps sustain the pacing as the game keeps evolving with new content.
I don't think it can maintain the same pace in the late game but it still manages to hold on, you're in for quite a grind if you're trying to see everything the game has to offer.
Also some people might find MC annoying as he often talks to himself and the main plot can be quite cliché but thankfully it didn't bother me.

With a big chaotic launch like this, you are bound to have absurd claims, people jerking each other n blowing everything out of proportion, and the ones praising the game, ignoring most of it's issues.
But it's no doubt CDPR backed themselves into a corner, with an insane amount of marketing and misleading trailers setting up the average consumer for dissapoinment.

Cyberpunk is an OK game, really good at times. It shines on it's presentation, cutscenes are well directed and the city is alluring, which is also one of it's biggest weakness, they built this enourmous detailed place with a lot of life in it but it's just a hollow shell, looking at it with a magnifying glass only makes it worse and there's NOTHING do in it other than appreciate the landscape while you go from quest to quest.
The game is carried by the performances (With the obvious one being the wholesome man, which made my time playing way more enjoyable), if you don't get invested in the story or characters then you'll probably get nothing out of this.
I liked the sidequests and gigs, all with their unique dialog and the many approaches the game gives you, I just wish they weren't so cluttered, maybe a smaller map could've helped or something to do in-between them because like I mentioned previously, there's nothing to do.

Nothing else stands out outside of it's "AAA" presentation. The hacking and combat are fine, it gets better the stronger you get as you start seeing enemy dismemberment and unlock new tools which can create cool scenarios. Driving is awkward but you get used to it.
The loot is a mess and scattered all over the place, man it is uninteresting. There's so much stuff like clothing, while that's nice to have, it's obvious they had a mechanic going for it that they couldn't fit into the game. That kinda sums up the feeling this game gives you, on every corner you'll be able to tell that something is missing.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a long journey, and chances are, you will not get a satisfying payoff. This is a get on sale in an year or so, not because of the bugs, because the game is lacking and there's bound to be future updates/big dlcs adding content and new features. I haven't experienced more bugs than any Bethesda game or Kingdom Come at launch and even without them, Cyberpunk is just a very flashy experience and shallow at it's core and i kinda can't help to think that people blaming bugs on why the game is bad are just coping with how lacking the game is. (PC)

The sequel to Battle Mania nailed it's style in Daiginjou with charming cutscenes and innovative features that make it one of the best shoot-em-ups out there, keeping itself fresh with creative level designs and gameplay that keeps evolving so it doesn't get repetitive.

One of my favorites on the Mega Drive.

Disney's Chicken Little: Ace in Action is a sequel to the some-what salvageable game that was Chicken Little.

“If you want a happy ending, it just depends on where you close the book!” - Orson Welles
My recommendation for a happy ending is that you don't open this book. I have never seen such disrespect to a franchise, the characters are completely ruined. Chicken Little is now a buff Guy Fieri, remember the little innocent duck? She's now sexualized and a Jessica Rabbit knock-off. They basically looked at Ratchet & Clank and said "let's do the same!"; Except it's soulless, insulting, offensive and slandering.

“মিথ্যা হলো শয়তানের বিয়ের মন্ত্র। মিথ্যা বললেই শয়তানের বিয়ে হয়। বিয়ে হওয়া মানেই সন্তান-সন্ততি হওয়া। একটা মিথ্যার পর আরো অনেকগুলি মিথ্যা বলতে হয় এই কারণেই।পরের মিথ্যাগুলি শয়তানের সন্তান।” ― Humayun Ahmed, এই মেঘ, রৌদ্রছায়া
This game was created from Satan lies, behind an evil capitalist intent, which thankfully collapsed under their roof.

"Love can literally transform a human being. It can make us do either heroic or evil deeds. It is the best inpiration ever." - Abhijit Naskar
And that is, what every Chicken Little fan needs after Disney's Chicken Little: Ace in Action, love that unites us together and let's us push through these dark times.
I believe there's only one thing worst than this, I however do not have the courage to write about it. (a game about a certain fish)

I have a love/hate relationship with this game.

This game throws every bullshit you can imagine at you, forget about most of the rules. You'll start with a shitty deck and getting good cards takes forever, you need to grind a lot. The enemies don't give a fuck, they straight up cheat and mock you after. At the beginning it's easy to get by but the more you play, the more bullshit it gets, the last section of the game can be pure insanity and you'll need to be on point with your deck and knowledge.

Growing up playing this was a pretty amusing experience, trying to figure out card combinations and how to get the best cards was really fun, which is why I look at it now with affection. I also enjoyed the eerie atmosphere a lot and the music is quite memorable. Nowadays the game is seen as a speedrun game and there's a lot of guides and tricks to help you out.

Straight up from the 1993 comic, Spider-Man and Venom have to team up to defeat Carnage.

Both of these characters feel great to play and have various moves, Venom (who can be selected after stage 1) in particular has an overall hefty feeling to him as the ground shakes when he moves, he's stronger than Spider-Man though not by much.
The story is told with comic style cutscenes that do a good job filling you in.
The level design is not very good and there's not a lot of variation. The game suffers from repetitiveness, I fought the same bosses like 6+ times and they're not that exciting to fight. Some are just generic enemies which is just lame to do in a Spider-Man game.

Though it might look like it, this game does not feature co-op which is something that it could have benefited from, specially back in the day. However the sequel Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety does.

I was pleasantly surprised.

The game features an exhibition mode and career mode which lets you create your boxer, customizing his appearance and stats, you train between fights to increase them.
It’s not a punch-out style of game, you can move in 360 degrees around the ring. Quite satisfying and realistic, having stuff like clinches and accurate judge boards. Like most boxing games from this era, it takes a while to get the hang of it but once you do, it feels great.

Very cool!

Well it's EDF.
If you're on PC, get EDF5, the port is kinda shit.
