Phenomenal game that ended up making me reevaluate its predecessor and like it more. Suffers at times from being the middle part of a trilogy but aside from the it nailed pretty much everything.

Somehow even better than the first! Loved it.

A culmination of all of remedies works. As a staunch Alan Wake defender, it’s amazing to see a truly realised vision of what that game aspired to be. Overall fantastic start to finish.

A strategy RPG all timer. Both scenarios fantastic, with a great spy thriller narrative and likeable characters. Aside from the odd out of nowhere difficulty spike, Front Mission 1st remake is an all time classic that RPG fans really must play.

Not scary, badly written and I wasn’t a fan at all of the voice acting. Couldn’t stand the escape sequences, they sucked all the tension out of the atmosphere. Nothing really engaging about running round a maze with something chasing you.

Parts where you were allowed to just explore at your own pace and piece together what’s going on were pretty enjoyable.

I thought there was some really strong visual design, the music was fantastic and I quite liked the setting and some of the background to the narrative.

A lot of the themes are handled with all the sensitivity of an ice pick crashing through your skull. The voice acting sat on the side of too hammy to be good and not hammy enough to be off kilter.

Really enjoyed the splicing of live action sequences into the game and enjoyed the overall art direction and monster design. Also thought the phone ui/ text messages popping up were nicely visually and mechanically integrated.

It’s so close to being good, but it just falls short. I don’t hate the rough outline of the narrative and there are a lot of things I quite like, but the poorly handled plot points, bland voice acting and derivative gameplay left me feeling more negative than positive.

Maybe this is the true Silent Hill, watching Konami squander excellent potential eternally.

A real breath of fresh air. Great overall style, super fun and just the right length. Only real problem is how buggy it is. Ended up having to YouTube cutscenes that had been replaced by Sargon awkwardly t-posing over the in game audio.

Not my favorite game in the series but definitely appreciated it a lot more with the context of Sky/ Crossbell. My main issue is it just refuses to end, the epilogue dungeon completely drags things out and kills the natural pace of the rest of the game.

An absolute overlooked classic. Cannon ending is a total gut punch. New ps2 era fave right here.

Somehow manages to nail robocop’s vibe completely. Just could have done with more Verhoevenesque parody commercials, rather than just news broadcasts. It just nails it with the gameplay, you really feel like you’re playing as robocop. Just so rad.

Ultimate lonely fisherman sim. A must have for any auld das out there.

Short but sweet and a return to form after the disappointing Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I hope that Infinite Wealth takes some lessons from this game.

Bloated compared to its predecessor, plot beats were a bit predictable and it’s buggy as fuck. Still pretty fun though. Glad I didn’t pay full price!

Slow but intriguing throughout. Love how much Erde Kaiser breaks the game. Not quite on the same level as gears or blade though.

Beat this game on an 8 hour plane journey. Starts stronger but became a bit more tiring by the end.

Nostalgic, gripping and an excellent balance of difficulty. A true spiritual successor to one of the best RPGs of all time. It hits every beat almost perfectly. Great characters, impeccable aesthetic, a familiar but nevertheless excellent story and a seriously fun battle system, make what is easily my game of the year. Not to mention that music, ooft. Sea of Stars is a must play.
