I didnt think it was possible to make me enjoy rtwp combat but this game did it. Very fun game, lots of builds to do. The Heart of Winter expac was a lot of fun too, though the Trials of the Luremaster was just ass hard for no reason. Very good backgrounds as well, i was extremely impressed with those.
My team consisted of:
S. T. Deandra – Undead Hunter (Paladin)
Molehill – Dwarvern Defender (Fighter)
Shark Ute’rie – Half-Elf Barbarian (Fighter)
Chief Kickabitch – Human Kensai (Fighter)/Cleric
ShortMediumAtLarge – Gnome Cleric/Thief
Glih Zhee – Elf Wild Mage

Streamed this to my friend for whom this is his favorite game of all time. After i finished he said, and i quote “so Garb, hows it feel knowing that you can look down on the stupid masses and have full authority over them in discussions of story in video games now that youve played the citizen kane of the medium?” To which, i replied “yeah i thought it was pretty decent”

2020

Steam just added the steam families into their beta and i got added to my friends and then removed within 10 minutes because they saw i owned this game

Played with brutal doom on gzdoom which probably explains why i enjoyed it a lot more than 1 on chocolate doom
I think industrial zone might be the least fun map in the game but i genuinely liked the stupid gimmick maps. Super shotgun is insanely fun but i really like what BD did to the normal shotgun. I definitely used that as my main weapon.

Lend me soma haki ODEN, this is Thornmarch (Hard) we’re up against….

The reigning king of “oh that game was a lot shorter than i remember”.
I really like this game, and i think there is so much done well with it, so thats why i wont say anything good about this game here in this here review.
The characters are all pretty neat but the issue with the “there is no real main character” is that this is an snes game. Anybody that isnt terra celes or locke can go eat shit. Celes is my favorite character but i feel like she gets more screentime than either of the other two. Terra is more widely considered the mc for spinoffs and whatnot which i dont really mind, per se, its just that shes not in your party for like half the damn game.
Gameplay wise, i hate the magicite system. It just leads to every character being a homogenized beast that doesnt matter in any way shape or form outside of their main gimmick. The figaro twins are so obscenely broken because of this, sabin in particular. Gau’s gimmick is PROBABLY the best but once i got the achievement i noped the fuck out of the veldt, probably one of the worst mechanics to get greenlit in the series. Most others are either totally worthless or just straight up outclassed.
Kefka is a lame ass villain. Dancing mad rules but hes not that fucking guy. Hes evil because he got the evil injection from banana cid and wants to end the world because hes evil. FF villains (usually) kinda stink but kefkas the only one i feel gets blown so out of proportion.
After this im probably returning to the ff14 mines. I fought kefka by accident before i could get the bestiary, but luckily setzer replaced locke on my final boss team and because setzer is a bald moron he used jokers death on my team and i could go back and get the last few entries.

When i say “you cant make a game like this anymore” i dont mean any annoying political tripe or cultural thing, i mean that writers are too scared to have the main villain turn himself into a splinter (im splinter exdeath!!!) for the sole purpose of telling you his master plan and then proceeding to get into a dbz style fistfight with a turtle. The chocobos dont dance to their own theme anymore, you dont get a single small room where you have to slide on your face to hide from enemies (you dont even get the choice) anymore, the list goes on. If any of these stupid wacky things happened nowadays its be a shitty parody game with annoying dialogue that hates itself for being an rpg.
Thats what FFV’s biggest strength is: it loves itself. FFV is a love letter to the series as a whole up to this point, including itself. Its silly and goofy, but the emotional parts of the story still hit hard, and the systems are some the best of any ATB game. (I will defend ATB btw i love this system)
4 is what got me into this series, 5 is what made me fall in love with it.
I am never 100% this game again

Told the story a gazillion times, but the 3d version of this on the phone was my first FF, and so this will always have a special place in my heart. Its a fantastic game for getting into the series, and a landmark in gaming as a whole. However that doesnt mean this game doesnt have faults, for example having 3 completely worthless party members, a bunch of stupid fakeout deaths, and the only real death having you cheering because the character sucks so much as a party member and you had to deal with him for 67% of the game at this point.
I feel like i had to babysit the worthless old men a lot more this run. Im never 100%ing this shit again btw the mindflayers and flan princesses were agonizing.

My team consisted of:
Macklemore: Warrior/Knight/Dragoon/Ninja
Eminem: Monk/Black Belt
PEE: Black Mage/Magus
Post Malone: White Mage/Devout

I failed to get 100% because i missed 4 enemies and 1 chocobo forest. I feel like such a fraud its unreal. I liked this version more than the DS one, truth be told. Comparible to 1 in overall quality, and comes out as a better game, but 1 leaves such a bigger impression on me. Theres nothing as insane as a fallen knight stuck in a time loop, and most everything cool in here had been done before in it. Most classes felt totally worthless and samey too, something im glad 5 fixes. I’m still mad about the missables, but ig ill get 100% when i replay it in 7 years

Minus a half star for being an MMO. Endwalker could massage my balls and id still give it a 4.5 max
My character was a WHM hyur with a mullet and a big mustache wearing a wifebeater and shorts named Michael Rackpipe. Every cutscene with me was very silly, i cant wait until i get the jorts glamour pants.
I did every single (non class) side quest and there is 0 differences between them and 99% of the main quests. I skimmed maybe 75% of the dialogue, and still fail to recall most characters names because the story was so boring until the level 46 quests.
Dungeons were barely dungeons, most of them were just straight lines. The only one i can say I actually liked was the haunted mansion one that i dont even remember the story purpose of. I heard a buncha horror stories about the end dungeon but that shit only took 30 min lol. I used NPCs for everything except the final boss.
The highlight of the entire campaign was rhitahtyn, who apparently got entirely redesigned bc he was too easy and the queues were longer than the fight LMAO.
Ill play the rest of the 2.X MSQs after i escape the pixel remaster mines, i was just home for a week and finished the battlepass earlier than i thought i would, so i decided to check out this cause it’s technically free.

The history revisionism around this game is insane, this game is fucking booty cheeks bad. It inherently doesnt work due to both the technology of the time and the type of game it is. You get used to the horrible gameplay, but thats not the game growing on you, its you shrinking to the game. Grinding is so ass backwards, its horrible. This version is the best this game could ever be without being a full remake from the ground up.
The only positives about this game are that it is mercifully short (unlike ff8), and that it basically invented final fantasy and stories in video games as a whole (despite 1s being better lmaooo). Very important game in history, but please dont pretend that its good

Its so saddening to see people start this game and not name a single character POOP, FART, BUTT, or any other short potty word in all caps, therefore i take it upon myself to always name 3 of my guys in this sense to make up for the other players that will never get the full experience

Starts off strong, falls flat in the middle, and ends nicely.
Good collection of games, my only complaint is the 30fps lock which is stupid cause the ogs were literally 60fps iirc. Really wish dual destinies was just a different game entirely but spirit of justice did the best it could with that dogshit setup

Oh yay an ace attorney game with actual themes (wasian savior complex) and so its not the series, dual destinies really is just that bad huh

Have NOT played the dlc case (i will after writing) EDIT: i played the dlc case and it was the best case in the game by a long shot i actually enjoyed the one-off murder mystery with entertaining characters and a good mystery but its still filler for a bad game
Just barely above utter drivel. Every case is boring, original trilogy case 3 tier, easy, and bloated. I could go on about them all individually but my main complaints can be boiled down to 4 points:
1. Phoenix wright has no reason to be in this game. Him being the main character adds nothing, and subtracts from everything 4 tried to accomplish. This is not the same phoenix that purposely gave apollo faulty evidence in order to prove how the courts needed to change, possibly damning an innocent girl in the process. This is the phoenix wright from case 2-3, for an entire game, but now with trucy. He goes through nothing, and is only there to allow the (shitty, pointless) apollo melodrama to go through easier.
2. The dark age of the law is inherently stupid. It sounds corny in the opposite way that these games are supposed to. “Victory in the courts is now all that matters eeeek!” Yeah haha anyways remember 1-2s prosecutors being obsessed with results and having to confront the fact that this was a disgusting egotistical perversion of the legal system, and theyve been trying to damn innocent people?
3. The main twist is stupid and obvious. This would work as a case 1 twist, not something built up over the whole game
4. Widget is also pure nonsense in any context. Literally only the main villain points out that the robot “therapy” session only makes sense to the defense and blackquill, and they just get away with it because they didnt think of how to actually legitimize it to a third party. This is a series where they cross examine a parrot, and this is still so much of a shark jump that it completely breaks any immersion i could have had every time. (Very little because these cases are all boring and i guessed every aspect perfectly halfway through the day one investigation periods every time)

I heard 6 is good so I’m keeping my hopes up for that one, but damn this game is easily the worst one
