There is a layer of clumsiness to wade through every time I think about this game. But once that layer is passed, I can't help but enjoy it.

these ducks know a level of peace i will never achieve

Gave 999 a 4.5/5.
Gave VLR a 4/5.
Ultimately rounded down due to changes this version made to 999.

Is it as good as 999? No. In almost every area, no. But it's still a great time. Except for two things: Those character models never get easier on the eyes. And the dice.

Every Persona game has its faults and this one is certainly no exception. That aside - P5 made the life-sim portion tie into the RPG portion more neatly than 3 and 4. And dang it if that system doesn't get me surprisingly engaged every time I play/replay a Persona game.

"Oh yeah I bought Wizard of Legend ages ago and remember being into it. I wonder how good it is."
...
"Oh, I like this."

Best Sims game

Get mad about it if you want to lower your mood

9/10 because 999.

Okay, but actually: how was this game so tightly written??

Satisfying enough as a management sim that I almost consider not hating the prison-industrial complex for just a moment

A bit rough around the edges at points, but hey, you play as a psychic ninja in an 80's VHS aesthetic and that's rad

I have learned to enjoy mahjong and dislike baseball

It's like lego except taking the blocks apart makes your fingers hurt less

I cannot explain the grip this game has on my existence
