WELL WELL WELL, IT SEEMS ALL THE HIGURASHI'S EXTRA FANSERVICE WAS WORTH IT!

Umineko is an insane jump in writing, Ryukishi is flying in his world. Amazing atmosphere, ost, artstyle (7th mod) and characters damn it!

You don't need, but i highly recommend you, my fellow gamer, read higurashi first, that is my only wish.

Saikoroshi was okay, i was not that interested in the story because i already thought the series to be finished, but yeah it's okay.

Hirukowashi was fun, nothing really to say.

Batsukoishi: WHAT THE HELL????? DELETE THIS SHIT!

Finally i played the king of the jrpgs and wow... it's nothing like i imagined.

There are some things i like, OST its good and combat is fun for the most part. Being able to travel across time it's pretty cool, but thats where my compliments stop.

I respect Chrono Trigger, but i didn't like it.

I could not imagine after playing chapter 1 that i would finish the eighth with a very different sight of the entire series.

This is a review of the Answer Arcs, again i did one for each chapter even if not that complete, but it's more like the series as a whole.

Higurashi is a series that changed a lot from the start to the end. Many people can be very upset about it, and they are not wrong (flashbacks of danganronpa v3). There are a lot of very big inconsistences or incomplete arcs, like characters being ignored, when they were very important before. So if your focus is in a entire well written storyline, you can be left dissapointed. Even with lots of highs and lows, it's was a reading i enjoyed.

Ryukishi07 said many times in the Staff Extras that his work it's to challenge you, the player, and try to create a world where the story can be made complete. All chapters are pieces of this big puzzle, and if you are not satisfied with the ending he gave, you can make your own, be it a good or a bad one. After all they been through i was happy with the ending, even if it's not that good in a objective sight.

Higurashi When They Cry is an experience that everyone who can endure almost 100 hours of text will like, less or more than me, or drop it after the first chapter. If you endure, i know there is something in this big puzzle that you will remember the series for. Be it happy, sad, angry, boring or epic moments, the memories will be there for you to create the perfect ending they deserve.

Not a good arc, but it gave me the ending i was hoping for as a fan.

"And with that, everything would end.
When the higurashi cry"

This is a review of the entire question arcs, i made one for each chapter so if you want my screaming individual opinions go there.

Higurashi When They Cry Question Arcs is a new experience for me, even if i did play some VN before, nothing was like these. To me, the first 4 arcs are basically horror stories, but after advancing through the series, they are not scary because of the horror elements (even though it's pretty amazing how much of an immersive experience they are), it's in the title: question arcs. Humans like do racionalize things, when you can't you will be scared. It's impossible for me to experience the story again with the same feelings, because i now know everything, so they are at the very core a big maze of mysteries for the author to challenge you with, and that's where the game is.

The story itself is made of a lot of pretty high moments and very bad lows, the slice of life it's important so you can care about the characters but i do think it's too much sometimes.

There is not much to talk without spoilers, so what i can say is that if you like mystery stories, to have an immersive experience enviroment, read it. Ryukishi did a very good job and you will not left dissapointed, just be aware that your finger will hurt a lot.

This one was really hard to review, the beginning and the finale were amazing but i was really bored at the middle. Seeing them all together was pretty heartwarming.

Still, the epilogue saved some points i was not liking and after reflecting, it is one of the best arcs.

HOLY F%$KING SHIT WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ?

THIS IS SO PEAK! KEIICHI-GOAT!

I was ready to start answering all the questions i had by receiving a fairly long expositive text in the first of the answer arcs! Instead i gain an impressive story of a broken character...

At this point of the Higurashi's series i just want to end, this suffering it's too much, let them be happy with stupid slice of life stuff... PLEASE.

3 more to go, RYUKISHI07 BRING IT ON!

Short but sweet.
The story itself is like an interlude between Question Arc and Answer Arc, the last piece of information they give you.
The ending was PEAK, I loved it, and the extra with the cast was incredible as always.

What he says in the extra about higurashi being a game because you participate in the story by creating theories, sharing and discussing is really cool, a different way of seeing a visual novel that has no choice or interaction of any kind.

Time to Answer Arcs, let's finish this!

The deeper I dive into the iceberg of Higurashi, the more I feel compelled to admire the writing and the atmosphere it creates, and I can't tell if I actually like it or if it's me being drowned by the flow of where they go from here.

Definitely the best of the first 3, less slice of life = better. He was free and did something wonderful! Keiichi, let them all burn!

I hate cute girls doing cute things.

How can this be so immersive i cannot tell. A really complete and well thought horror writing. Deserved recognition.

I am easily scared, so yeah i screamed a little louder than i should have... The thing is i was hating the slice of life part and now i just want to stay forever. The "Extra" where the characters discuss theories and the story so far is very fun, really cool idea (you will not bait me to believe in their theories!)

I just want cute girls doing cute things... no more creepy story please...

Well... that was something...

If the first half of life with cute girls doing cute things was a little shorter, this visual novel could be an amazing start. The combination of writing, sound, art and background was spectacular, it kept me tense until the end.

Now let's continue this journey with Higurashi: Avenida Brasil (few people will understand this and they will certainly only be my fellow Brazilians).

3 years since i first step foot on Atlus' biggest franchise... 3 years since i started my demon summoning addiction and throw away stupid pokemons and edgied myself to the true monster catcher game...

Pretty good art style, amazing atmosphere, GINZA THEME, and a very japanese political background from 90s.

I mean yeah, it's a good game for when it launched, the precursor of an entire genre and an entire universe, until it finally became a pretty waifu simulator we all love so much.

An amazing game that i can't bring myself to like.

I was so excited to play it but i think i was not made to like CRPGs. My mixed feelings about Divinity Original Sin 1 and Disco Elysium should have been a clear sign. I always play games trying to make the best playthrough possible, and thats not how a game like BG3 works. You will fail, you will lose quests, people will die, and so on. I pressed F8 more than any other keybind. There are almost infinite ways of playing and the game wants you to replay again and again.

The first 10 hours were enjoyable, but my interest steadily decreased. Eventually, I lost the motivation to explore and progress, to the point where I stopped reading and carefully selecting options.

Perhaps, someday, playing with friends and adopting a less perfectionist playstyle i can try again. For now, the 26 hours I spent playing made me wish I was doing anything else.
