Genuinely the best 2D Mario game, even if its "redundant". Its the culmination of every other previous Mario game. Arguably the only thing its lacking is challenge, but casual 100% is so fun and well paced that its hard to care.

Genuinely just adore this game. I was never one that was too big into the expansive direction of Mario 64 or Sunshine and I think this game retains enough of the fun Mario movement while having actual level design to it to be really fun to play both casually alone or competitively with your friends. Gotta get to the Switch version sometime to see if I enjoy the speed-up.

Its a damn shame the Backloggd listing for this game fuses the GameCube version with the botched HD ports. The GameCube version still looks fantastic and is in my opinion by far the definitive (unmodded) version of the game, with a doubled framerate and more focused art direction than the Dreamcast version.

Game itself is of course fun, zoomin' movement and a really nice atmosphere

hot take but MP8 was better. "wahh wahh but the motion games tho" yes bullshit is required for a good mario party

The fun controls and really charming visuals make me wish there was an actual game designed around them instead of an experience scientifically crafted to be as boring and annoying as possible.

I played this over Metal Gear Solid as a kid. I still haven't gotten to playing that.

Probably need to pick up and replay this one (Preferrably on Saturn), but after enjoying the hell out of X5 and the Mega Man Zero series before this one this game kind of left me disappointed? Not exactly sure why, maybe because it's not nearly as well-balanced around X compared to X5 or because the bosses aren't nearly as intricate or brutal in their design (Magma Dragoon and Split Mushroom aside) compared to other MM games. I definitely need to give this game another try because it honestly just kind of bored me.

I beat Disc 1 and am now in the sunk cost fallacy of needing to beat this game. Also its incredible so that helps.

Godlike amount of freedom and fun with the movement and scoring system as all three playstyles. All the characters kinda suck until they get their first upgrade but once they do its an absolute blast to try and ace.

I own this game five times over and I still don't know where the hell to find Knuckles' optional upgrade. Masterpiece.
