I never thought that I would find finishing a game depressing, but once Disco Elysium ended I felt empty. The emptiness stemmed from a feeling that I’d never again play a game as unique and emotional as this. It also came from the fact that I wasted the majority of my 20’s in a drunken stupor and related deeply to Harry in regards to addiction. After I finished it I didn’t play anything else for a while, all I wanted was Elysium. I tried to read books with similar vibes, the closest one was The City and the City by China Miéville, but it didn’t fill the void.
Easily my favorite game of all time and I cannot wait to see where ZA/UM goes next.
