Love-hate relationship with this one.
On one hand checkpoints, enemy placements and stiff movement and controls make it a slog at points with difficulty being artificially spiked through unfair means.

Yet for an NES game it has gorgeous 8bit environments and set pieces, where the game designers clearly tried to do something with the set design and art direction, an abitious mutli-route system, a plethora of smaller mechanics and systems and some fire music.

It all culminates in Castlevania III being the best out of the NES titles and worth a shot if you're willing to deal with some outdated gameplay.

literal fucking guilty pleasure. Everything, from the controls to the colours to the music, its all fucking perfect. Helped me through anxiety I felt in between studying. This game makes me feel pure bliss even though right now I am at one of my lowest points mentally.

Never thought I'd be saying this but thank you Katamari for helping me through this depressing time.

This is hell. The story is well and good and for mega man x its damn solid. But fuck me, the gameplay itself isnt inherintly an issue hell i even liked the inclusion of the gold armour and the upwards dash but without a guide telling you exactly what to do and where to go, good luck trying to get the z saber which if u wanna defeat sigma, dont make the mistake i made AND GET IT! Do that if u dont wanna beat the final part of the game on maverick hunter. also the level design is utter dogshit.

hello? based department?

yeah this game fucks, ive only gotten through all of X's route thus far but goddamn despite the story being corny(but albeit enjoyable from the little there was) the gameplay is on another level, movement has never felt more fluid and genuinely i feel that the level design complements this beautifully.

the bosses are also great and zero is a playable character. Enough said.

The only reason i didnt give this a 5 is because im a slut for mega man x's story.

I give my life
not for honour
but for you!

did the cutscene version but it has a fantastic story
