Highlights of 2023

Nothing here!

Even after my original review and countless conversations I've had, reviews and videos I've read and watched, and dissections, words cannot describe how much I adore Thracia 776. A game that captures almost about everything I love about both fire emblem as a series and video games as a whole. It's currently marked as my favorite game on this site because of what it represents. It represents the esoteric and unhinged side of video games that will always fascinate me. I've written a review on this before so please skim through that if you'd like a taste test of how much I love this game.
I've wanted to play this game for nearly half a decade, and finally getting to it MGS2 not only lived up to my expectations but succeeded them. An amazing and near timeless think piece that won't be leaving my head anytime soon.
This entry is going to stand in for my visual novel experiences this year, and I find Tsukihime (with Higurashi close by) to be the highlight. VNs as a genre are inherently esoteric, so it immediately flocks to what my tastes are. Very nostalgic and comfy yet unnerving atmosphere surrounds this title, and it's the pure definition of an extremely flawed yet earnest game. I can't recommend Tsukihime to anyone, but if it does interest you in any capacity, it might be worth a read.
Weird sequel thing to The Silver Case I played a year later. F.S.R. is tough to talk about but it touched me in a very specific spot and way that resonates with me. Yeah, it's tedious, and yeah, it's obtuse, but that is the appeal. It's a comfy time.
It's become a meme in my friend group that I despise remakes, and while that is partially true, REmake is an exception. It builds upon what I already adored about the original game while also not really being a "replacement" of it, both games are very good and unique in their own ways. I wish I could say this about more remakes honestly.
