SamoJamo reviewed Amnesia: The Bunker
Finally, Amnesia is scary again.

I felt real tension and anxiety during my playthrough, especially cuz I somehow ended up playing on Hard Mode. The mechanics play very well together with the focus on minimizing noise, taking time, and utilizing resources properly, all the while being on the run from a monster that would like to do nothing more than rip you apart.

This game was very reminiscent of Alien: Isolation which I love and I believe it is also one of the most replayable Amnesia games. Even the final encounter with the monster is randomized so you don't just brute force a strategy.

The endings are kinda lackluster and all feel the same, unfortunately. The previous instalments had more weight behind your choices and what ending you picked but Bunker wasn't too story-heavy so this is OK.

However, like with all horror games. Once you figure them out it stops being that scary and ends up being more frustrating and a wait game. The monster itself is pretty goofy so it's kinda funny to fuck around with him (even though the reality and origin of the monster is tragic and sad). I wish there was more variety or moods of the monster. The more unpredictable he would be, the scarier it would've been. You kinda just figure him out towards the end and have plenty of resources to deal with him without breaking a sweat.

The atmosphere was pretty scary, I kinda wish it had more fantasy elements but we had plenty of those in previous games so it's fine I guess. The Bunker can be very daunting at times, especially when the lights are out and the emergency red lights are on. The flickering is also a neat addition to the monster being near.

Overall it was a decent game but the monster could've been scarier and more complex, resources could've been more limited depending on the difficulty (even on hard mode there wasn't a lack of resources), endings could've had more weight to them and been more different than slightly varying, story and plot could've been more complex and engaging, but alas, 4/5, pretty decent. Hope the next one is better.

Very solid platformer. I died a lot cuz I have 144p vision but it was very fun despite all of that since you don't really get punished for dying.

I loved the fact the environment changes as you progress the story, it reminds me of Mega Man X where each stage would change depending on who you killed and it just makes the game feel a bit more full of life and makes you feel like your progress mattered.

Ori was a joy to move with, by the end of the game you had so many movement options that some of them felt redundant (the orb-throw-switch-launch-movement). But I don't mind that, I'd love to see streamers incorporate this into their Speedruns and see them go even faster than I could. The dash was also super fast and satisfying.

The soundtrack kicking in during intense scenes was awesome, also I loved how the controller vibrated when the Owl Mama is getting close to you signaling a ruthless instant death.

I didn't follow the lore too deeply but I can say I superficially enjoyed the story and it's tragedy but it paid off and you could walk away with a good lesson from it. (I'm still team Owl Mama tho).

Ori was a fun experience and you should definitely give it a shot if you like Sidescrollers.

SamoJamo reviewed Titanfall 2
This was a very fun game. I like that it had a recommended difficulty, so it wasn't a cakewalk, I mean, it was easy, but it had just enough challenge to not be mind numbing and running into a room of enemies and surviving.

I didn't really care much about the story of the game or the characters (except for BT) since I came for the mechanics and they did not disappoint. It was fun to shoot, run on walls, time travel, mess with gates, and of course, switch between normal FPS gameplay and Titan gameplay.

But oh my God, BT is such a Bro, easily everyone's favourite character. It was so fun to get yeeted by this robot but knowing that he's a homie so you're gonna be just fine. It was also funny when he got grabbed like a toy in one of those Crane Claw Machine games.

Moments with BT were definitely my highlights even until the end of the game where he just says "trust me bro". Very fun gameplay.

Unfortunately, I did come for the Grappling Hook mechanic but that's only in Multiplayer and I have no interest in that so it's a shame. However, Titanfall 2 still ended up being a quick, fun experience without feeling padded or slow.
