My first Souls-like game. Really enjoyed the story and character interactions and the gameplay was slower paced and challenging; I played on the second highest difficulty, but I had to turn it down to normal during the arena fight; I could not for the life of me dodge any attacks cause the enemies were too aggressive.

A great but challenging licensed platformer! Great and fluid sprite work with an underrated yet GODTIER soundtrack that’s honestly one of my favorites from the 16-Bit era (so much variety and cool melodies). Played every version of this game more times than I can count (not the game boy version 😂), but the Sega Genesis version is the best as it has a wider screen radius making it easier to control and has a few bonus levels and mission objectives compared to the Super NES version. PC port is trash with awful physics despite improved graphics. The GameBoy version is so barren and dull it’s not even worth playing. Even though it’s not perfect it’s still one of my most favorite games to replay.

Imo the modern day story is uninteresting after the events of AC3, but the expanded naval combat is so fun as it’s own game that it doesn’t matter. Edward is a fun protagonist and it was shocking to see the AC3 connection once I beat the story as I completely forgot about it. Just don’t go into this game expecting the typical Assassin’s Creed gameplay experience as the tailing / stealth missions are almost an afterthought compared to the pirating / sailing mechanics.
Played on PS4 via the Ezio Collection. The weakest of the Trilogy, but the conclusion of Ezio’s story/life is so satisfying that it makes it worth playing till the end. The tower defense sections here are ok, but are far too numerous and become tiring toward the end of the game. Also the dynamic in the present day story between Desmond and Clay is interesting, but drags.
