After about a decade since I first played it and dropped it as a kid cause I couldn’t figure stuff out, I finally revisited Epic Mickey last month to properly finish it in honor of Oswald being celebrated by Disney again for their 100th anniversary, to play the game that truly brought him back in the spotlight. And I absolutely loved it. Yes it has its flaws which people have pointed out since release, like the camera getting stuck on things, the potential for the paint and thinner route differences not being what it could’ve been, etc. But despite that, I still love almost everything else about the game, the story, the setting, the characters, the atmosphere, and especially the visuals, for a Wii game this still looks extremely good even if it does cause the game to have slowdown in some areas. The paint and thinner mechanics are also always fun to use in conjunction with platforming and it still makes this game unique to play among other 3D platformers. It was also a great history lesson for old school Disney stuff like old cartoons and characters from them, it makes you feel bad that all of these people were just forgotten over time. Oswald especially deserves the love, and I really like his natural growth over the course of the game of seeing that Mickey is actually a nice guy and it wasn’t really him specifically that caused him to be forgotten, but Disney themselves just replacing him. Kinda funny in hindsight considering how not so great Disney has been nowadays. I highly recommend this game for anyone that still has a Wii, or can properly use a Wii remote and nunchuk on Dolphin. It’s a great underrated gem on the console and I hope it’ll get some form of remaster or remake in the future that could improve aspects that were lacking before
