I feel weird about Banjo-Tooie, like I should hate it. There's a lot of stuff about it like the consistent backtracking, repetitive minigames and occasionally bloated levels that should bother the shit out of me but they just... don't. The interconnected world is so well plotted out with interesting puzzles and challenges spread throughout, and traversing it all with the vastly extended moveset was almost always engaging. Even the more convoluted areas like Grunty Industries and the obstacles they presented didn't leave me griping much, but rather had me deeply focused on how to get them done. I can definitely only speak for myself, as I think people's qualms with this game are 100% valid, but they just didn't really exist in the same capacity for me. Video games are cool.
