got so stoned i once spent 5 hours straight in an endless dungeon mod without even knowing it was an endless dungeon. I just thought, "damn, this is a long ass dungeon, this is based as fuck."

Hopoo games showed that they're not ones to make a 1 hit wonder. Risk of Rain 2 could be it's own titled game, only sharing characters from the first and it could totally stand on it's own. The switch from 2D to 3D is never easy, but the people at Hopoo make it look easy.

One of the first roguelike games that really sucked me in was the original Risk of Rain. I put so many hours into that game across all the different consoles. And I'm glad to say I'm probably going to put even more hours into this one. In my eyes, this is just a straight improvement of the first game.

One of the best JRPGs ever made. Amazing story with an actual good alignment system that forces you to deal with the choices you make and doesn't sugarcoat anything. This was my introduction to the SMT series as a whole, and it absolutely destroyed any perception of games similar to it because they now have to be compared to this.

The last pokemon game i really played before quitting the series. It many regards, it's great. The Megaevolutions it introduced were wonderful, although the start of generational gameplay mechanics that would get dumped by the wayside until it's convenient. Lackluster rivals, as well as forgettable gym leaders and towns make going through the game a bit of a slog. But the elite 4 was presented so well and the music is some of the most peak pokemon music we've gotten, outside of gen 2 and 3.

Takes the foundation placed from the first game and expands. More playable characters, a larger world to explore, replacing the heights and depths of the dungeon to a large and spread out, yet condensed town.

One of the more unique gaming experiences I've had in years. Far from perfect, but like the depressing and oppressive aesthetic of the game, it's not meant to be perfect. As an introduction, this game offers a lot of lessons to be learned to go from not knowing how to navigate the world to becoming an expert.

The first indie game I ever played, and easily one of the greatest. So many indie games owe their existence to this game made by one singular person.

2018

I only wish I could experience this game for the first time again.

Outside of the Bethesda jank, this is probably one of the greatest games ever made.
