I first took an interest in the Persona series through the music of Persona 5 and while I considered simply skipping that game, my desire to observe the way the series evolved through the years led me to play what many consider to play what many fans consider the beginning of modern Persona. After putting over 200 hours into this game, I can safely say choosing to start with Persona 3 was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. The characters, story, and overarching themes of the games were extremely well-written. The music and art style were charming and while many of the mechanics were a bit outdated, the story and social links kept me coming back. Would recommend it.
Though I firmly believe that Budokai Tenkaichi was better in regards to the amount of playable characters, scenarios, and costumes; this game has it beat when it comes to its story mode and other mechanics. The stage transitions and the fun minigames like Ten-Shin-Han using his Kikohou on Cell were the highlights of it for me.

Absolutely loved this game as a child. I'll never forget the night my father saw me playing Super Sonic Warriors 2 and told me how the daughter of a friend at work had a better Dragon Ball game with many more characteres. I didn't believe him until he brought back my DS with a bunch of new anime games including this one. Must have replayed it like 3 times even though it was all in Japanese. Amazing game and it is astonishing how they got it to run on the DS (albeit a bit poorly at times).
