machinegames did the impossible
a good quake bossfight

also the rest of it is peak boomer shootering please play so we get more quake

It's fun how what is for many the hardest game in the series can also be one of the easiest if you equip tank legs and the CR-WBW98LX. That thing is evil itself. Oh, you're a tank? No prob, 5 hits and you're dead. You're a lightweight? The moment you stop flying like a bee you get devastated. Two ACs? I don't care, get fucked. The arena? The only one in the series that doesn't require you to change build because it's completely doable with that cannon. Whoever put THAT THING in the game is an evil genius. The only times it doesn't work is when you need to complete objectives fast for the more complex routes AND against the "true" final boss (at least I couldn't make it work). Basically if tank legs are bad play hover or middleweight or whatever you want, if tank legs are ok for that mission equip the cannon and absolutely ANNIHILATE everything in your way.

Nexus was a mistake

lol this update blows
microsoft pulled the plug on funding so what was clearly meant to be a full season got butchered and sold in the store to cash out

the new map and other stuff is fun and all but yeah this game’s done for

shame that this had to happen right as they were making it good. oh well

Quake

1996

the feel of this game has aged so gracefully that i can forgive some of the annoying enemies and the fact that half the weapons are just another weapon but again

still confused about that final boss though lmao

pretty solid set of levels though it kind of feels like "more quake" rather than its own thing

it's likely due to the lack of new weapons/enemies, but even then it's some good quake-ing

Doom

2016

it's solid but after eternal this game feels completely redundant lol

there's some things i miss from here (why does melee deal 0 damage in eternal what) but overall i see no reason to ever play it again aside from maybe the multiplayer since it's pretty fun

pretty solid expansion, the new levels are great, they look fantastic and have some really fun encounters

bit light on new mechanics, really its just the support rune and a few new enemies
speaking of enemies, oh my god these new ones suck
their weaknesses are just kind of not fun to deal with

starts off super strong, the hammer is really fun to use and the levels are still great
the grapple movement puzzles are a bit easy but overall more fun than previous movement puzzles

unfortunately the enemies are even worse than in tag1, they're all just reskins of existing enemies with lame/annoying mechanics, the final boss fight is astoundingly terrible and unfun and the story just kind of ends

the optional levels in the escalation encounters are a cool idea but they kind of peak with the first one? the 2nd and 3rd are for some reason way easier and dont feel anywhere near as rewarding to beat

idk, wasnt the biggest fan even if i wish i could take the hammer to the main game/tag1 because it's everything i wish the crucible was lol

Its funny, its short, its well designed and goes on sale for a couple of quid every second week, why haven't you played it?
