Its story is a noticeable step down from BW1 but I think it makes up in the gameplay department. One of the best national dexes ever, an expanded and changed world, several endgame battle facilities and modes...a HARD mode (although it's super tedious to obtain) - this game is the one where I'm most reluctant to delete my save file.

Flawed but charming. Sometimes you need a little power trip to keep yourself going.

Best story in the series, hands down. Regional forms were a genius idea and the new mons were great too. I love the starters here. Don't tell me this game is too easy when Totem Lurantis is here. Ultra SM ruined the story but had some quality of life and extra content aspects that are the only things keeping this from being the perfect pokemon game. I wish instead of USUM and LGPE, those teams worked together on an improved remaster of SM on the switch in HD with all of the benefits that came with USUM like the expanded dex, 8th trial, bigger soundtrack, and rainbow rocket campaign. This game has the most effective use of a silent protagonist, because you aren't the main character. Lillie (and kinda Hau) is. You are the first champion, not some rando. This game is super special to me and the hype train before release was such a wonderful experience.

Not fun at all and never worth returning to lol

Makes me happy <3 but also hurts my back when I play for too long, which happens a lot lol

has the only canonically gay character in the series, in my eyes

Honestly a much cooler atmosphere and tone than the other games in the series. Unfortunately, the gameplay couldn't keep my attention for that long.

One of the first games I ever played, and I got lost all the time lol. Very fun experiment in nonlinear Kirby

It's rushed. We know this. The story sucks. We know this. I don't love it, but I do think it's going to age better than people think. The new mons and galarian forms were good IMO. I liked the significance of the legendaries way more than ever before - they were simply legends of old instead of malevolent gods. Raids (and especially Dynamax Adventures) have SO much potential and I really hope they aren't a one-off mechanic like Dynamax. I really want to see them back in Scarlet/Violet. The multiplayer community at this game's launch was something special. The DLC also had a lot of improvements on the base game, although I still think it's lame that we needed DLC for it to get to that level. It's the most accessible game for competitive play, and I appreciate its strides in that direction.

Honestly kinda overrated lol. Besides the minigames and secret agent lore, the entire game was just spending money for crappy cosmetics.

I appreciate that it's something different. I liked the redesigns of Team Aqua. The dexnav was fantastic and the remastered soundtrack is amazing. I don't think this is better or worse than Emerald - they're different. However, there were some obvious improvements like using the superior Emerald gym teams that were not done, and they really needed to ease up on the HMs. (IGN was right and I stand by that!)

Honestly GREAT game with a crap ton of content, constant updates YEARS after release, and a really great community. Don't write it off as a simple mobile game. I have it on Steam and it's a great time.

Getting the controversial moments out of the way (yes, they were terrible), I think the gameplay was just weird. Like, I feel like this could have been an anime series or something.

what a cool and fresh new idea! so much personality.

I know this game isn't perfect but I adore the animal buddies so much
