Scorn

2022

It really is a polarizing game and I understand why that is, but it is really good nonetheless. Gameplay can be clunky yes, puzzles can be frustrating, yes, story is hard to understand, yes, but I also think the second two are on purpose. I can excuse some rough edges for a story I derive my own meanings from and a fantastic H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski-inspired visual design. If you are a gameplay buff, I'd pass on it, if you like indie games with odd approaches and fantastic visuals, big recc.

Scorn

2022

Scorn

2022

Scorn is a staggeringly beautiful achievement in video game aesthetics and atmosphere hampered only by the expectations thrust on it by its context in the industry. If one views games as a checklist of content, this game is hugely flawed. The combat is really really frustrating and does detract from the experience, and the puzzles do err on the tedious side. But also, like, I don't care? This is a completely idiosyncratic vision being given attention something this weird and small normally isn't, it's one of the most perfectly achieved and coherently executed styles I can think of in recent memory. There's a million games where I can have fun shooting people, there's only one where every item is diegetically connected to the narrative and aesthetics of the world. Every moment playing Scorn is one basking in awe of the magnitude and scale of its creation. Feels even more powerful to play something this intimately pro choice in 2022

Phenomenal for a PSP title. Goes in a different direction than 2 & 3, and succeeds in making a new and exciting gameplay loop. Does what it does better than V in a lot of respects.

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course takes some of the best aspects of Cuphead and distills them into a single expansion. It’s brief, but no less gorgeous or inventive than the main game. In fact, I’d say they refined everything from animation to boss mechanics.

One big thing that’s missing are the ‘Run ‘n Gun’ levels. I can’t say those were the standout of the base game (and the devs fill the vacancy with a bit of brand-new side content which I won’t spoil here,) but even one Run ‘n Gun would have been the icing on the cake.

Rdr 2 is a breathtaking game that held back by 2 very stupid things. First one is the biggest problem of the game for me, the PC Port. Okay i understand the game is huge so optimization is hard etc but why it looks BLURRY! This game is both artistically and technically gorgeous but thanks to the pc version i just couldn't enjoy it. I tried all things and spend hours in settings it just didn't fix. And the sad thing is i probably would have given 5/5 if it wasn't like that.

And the other one is linear missions. Pacing and stories are great but it also feels like game plays itself. Still if you accept the situation and play it as a cinematic game that has open world i think you'll love it. But besides all the flaws Red Dead Redemption 2 is a brilliant game that comes once in years.

A game that tells you that a romantic relationship is not a necessity to be happy in life, which is something many people tend to forget. We can find happiness in many things, whether it's our jobs, passions, family, friends or a mix of them.

It's charming and makes clever use of gameplay elements to portray/symbolize certain feelings and events, but a bit too short and simple to really leave an impact.
