challenging puzzle game with a fun,but sad, little story

This game gameplay is purely based on puzzles,like most detective games,and against what i though it was going to be,this game is hard,like really hard,i had to cheat for atleast 15 puzzles,and most of the time they are fun and doesnt feel like they are cheating,also the memo feature that you have is greatly helps your brain with the problems,i also like the hint

Amazing,Amazing soundtrack,and the songs are classy,calming and when it needs to be,emotional,i especially love the screen title song and the credits song

Aesthetics/Graphics | 8-8,25/10
i dont really need to say a lot about the aesthetics of the game,just seeing it for a minute you get the appeal,they are absurd,extreme and diverse,they are all hand drawn and it gives it charm,and they all (mostly) just look cute


Story/Characters/Writing | 16/20
Fun,innocent dialogue,fairly interesting characters with their own little personality and story full of twists that keep it interesting,but because of the like 200 puzzles inserted in the story the pacing is a little off,like every 5 minutes you will get a puzzle

i especially love the dynamic between luke and layton,this kinda father son relationship,they go through a lot but they are a lot of fun together,i also really like other characters like don paolo and future luke

You get a lot of extra people to talk to and extra puzzles in this game,like i think more than 100 of the puzzles are extra in this game,so yeah there is a lot to do and it is fun,because,extremely hard puzzles are fun,at least for me

Replayability | 1,5/3
Not much reason to replay it,but that is not really what im looking for in a detective puzzle game,since with the mysteries that this kind of game have,you knowing them will make the experience less shoking and more boring

Wow,just beautifull stuff,didnt know prof layton stories had such sentimental themes,the way he reacted to claire leaving was really human,he didnt want her to go and start crying from the frustration and sadness that even though she is alive he cant see her anymore because of not altering time,and when he cries and takes of his hat,that is a really emotional scene,i also like the scene with luke having to go because his parents were moving,it was bittersweet,its sad but they will eventually comeback for more adventures

Overall
Fun game with difficult puzzles and an sentimental story with fun dialogue,cant ask much more out of a layton game,only maybe the pace in the story miss up a litle bit,but the rest is great

god that was boring,and even i that i really appreciate the idea of a football game going for that more personal side of life and i also appreciate the aesthetics of the game,but this is not it

the gameplay is extremely monotous,both the football side and the social side,in about 3 hours you have seen all the game has to offer,it is extremely slow making you sit through a whole season of a random fotballer until it lets you play with your character,and is just the same shit when you get it

and even the little content is just bad,the social interactions are souless and unrealistic and just feel plastic,and the football side are just 10 pre made animations being played over and over again and they are also unreleastic every fucking goal comes from a 80 meter cross.

honestly this just felt like a waste of time and does not exced at being a social/dating sim or a football game,just awful

The main thing i makes the game so good is the story pace it never gets slow,it keps going and going and going until it ends,its an short and precise story,but with rich characters and fun dialogue.

first i want to talk about the dialogue/writing and it is fun and natural,something i really liked was the constant banter between the characters,they always throw shit at eachother and it is really fun and makes the characters more human too

Now the plot,and i cant talk about it without talking about the twists,what may be the most famous part of this game,and it lives to the hype,first of all there are a fuckton of twists in the history,so much that in onepoint it may feel comical,but it never really reaches that level and the game does a good job at making them feel important and logical,even if at the end of the day a lot of the twists didnt really matter because,spoilers,you are a cat,and the man is a guy named yomiel,not sissel,but even then the twists doesnt loss their weight and they make the story interesting and keep you on your toes for the next twist

The characters is another of my favorite part of the game,they all are unique,fun,funny and lively,they are a very little amount of characters that dont have weight in the story,its a short cast all connected in different ways for different people,but at the end of the day they all trace back to eachother,and all of them are just really likeable

one thing i wanted to say before this section ends is that sissel/yomiel is so fucking cool,i dont know if it is the glasess,the hair,the clothes,his expressions or his dialogue,but he is so cold,especially in chapter 15 yomiel is so calmed because he knows they cant kill him and kills pigeon man by just moving his hand,also when he uses the lamp to steal cabanela gun was fucking cold.

for such a honestly easy puzzle solving game,it keeps you up and it is entertaining,and just interesting,what you are not gonna like a gameplay where you have to use your ghost powers,wit and timing to save people life and move around,to move without phone lines you have to manipulate objects in a way that makes a kinda domino effects so that you can move around,and if that doesnt so interesting and cool to you i dont know what does.

it doesnt get higher score because again the puzzles are simple and easy,but they never get stale or boring.

This game uses a pretty unique aesthetics,they are kind of similar to the one used in ace attorney,but not really,only the drawings of the characters (that i really like) look like that game,the rest of the game looks great,especially the models,and in a really unique way.
I love the character design in this game,it is maybe a little exagerated but it plays perfectly with the characters personality
and for a ds game it actually looks pretty damn good,i think

i really like it,it ties every plot point on a nice way,and even though it may be really suprising at first,with time you will end up understanding it.

getting more with the specifics,i did not expect to sissel to be a cat,it honestly was not the first thing i expected to be,but i think it was really brave to make a protagonist whos identity was misguided the whole game and is actually an animal

one thing that i noticed about the ending is that the fate of the characters change not completely,but enough to make them live happy,so the ending goes:
jowd relive those ten years without being in prison for half of it with his loved ones and not feeling guilty about yomiel.
yomiel instead of dying and the chain of events that happened to him repeating,he spent 10 years in the can for escaping police interrogation and threat with lethal weapon with a hostage,but he still is alive and willing to live with his fiancee still living and visiting him.
missile gets to live with its owners he loves so much peacefully
sissel relives those 10 years now as an inmortal kitty that never grows old,and i think he still has its powers just like yomiel did,even though all this happened sissel is happy with how things turned and is just fine with watching people live their lives
all 4 still remember what happened even after they comeback in time and try to live their lives even knowing all this awful and scary information

i think the endings is well made and satisfying,even though a little weird,but this game in general is a little weird,so its fine

For the ds,the soundtrack let me down a bit,i dont think is awful by any means,but its nothing truly great,but it does its job,especially when entering serious moments,the music changes are sudden,and that adds to the atmosphere.

something i love about the sound designs is the little sound effects that are used in conversations,they make everything have more power to it,like the little punch sound when someone is yelling

Overall,just a fun,funny,lively game,with some hair bending twists and likeable characters,with a dope aesthetic and fun puzzlesolving gameplay
