I think Anomaly's best strength is that, even after Ludeon added options to tweak how much of it triggers without touching the monolith, you do have to touch the monolith to really trigger it.

My friends and I call it the boredom button. Colony so strong that not even a Janissary siege crew can get past the initial defensive line? Hit the boredom button. Metalhorrors are scarier than anything the Empire can throw at you.
