I liked this game a lot the first time I played it years ago, but this replay just felt soulless.
It felt like the game was just going on endlessly. I understand part of the charm of the Metroid formula is getting new weapons is opening up previously inaccessible areas, but there are just so many of these types of doors, etc. it just becomes tiring.
The only part I mildly enjoyed was towards the end when I had all the power ups and could blast my way around everywhere.
Not sure if I’ll be revisiting this game again. Maybe in 20 years.

This game is hard to place for me. Graphically it’s fantastic, especially for the system it’s on. Gameplay-wise it’s fun to play, but I can’t help but compare everything in this game to the first.
The mission-based structure, added to aid shorter play sessions, is severely hindered by the lack of a save-anywhere function. Several times I was rushing to finish a mission before my commute was over.
The lack of portrait ghosts is of course unfortunate. The new ghosts look great but they don’t have the personality of the first game’s enemies.
I can tell a lot of effort was put into this game and it’s very well made but I’d still consider the original a more clear vision of what Luigi’s Mansion is all about.
Oh and E.Gadd just straight up kidnapped Luigi and forced him to work.
