Mategaga finished God of War Ragnarök
Didn't quite have the same emotional impact as the first one for me, but an improvement over the first one in almost every other way. From better boss fights (instead of just the same troll over and over again) to better enemy variety, to developing many other characters incredibly well. Also the addition of making Atreus playable was really neat and kept the combat fresh. Its ability to tie everything together for the finally was amazing.

DP2 or JJ Macfield? How was either transphobic?

EpicSponge101 finished The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories
A very messy slog of a game that somehow makes up for the tedious gameplay through its incohesive messages alone. This is my first Swery game; I didn't really know what to expect going in, but I've definitely come out with a very distinct impression of his style as a developer. A lot of moments in this game really hit the mark, like the first time you die and get fucking brutalized-- the gruesome sound effects your body makes the first time you hear it being torn apart. It's a very, very strong image, which is definitely confounded upon whenever you finally piece together what the story is about. The brutal injuries being a representation of self harm and gender dysphoria is really sweet, as are the conclusions to the text messages you follow along through the game to learn more about yourself. Even if a lot of the theming in there- like the moose doctor or the images that flash when you hang yourself- can feel a tad random at times. I don't think the game ends up being particularly complex thematically so much as convoluted, which tonally almost makes this game stand out more lmao. I doubt I'll remember much in this game beyond the brutal imagery/sound effects and story, though. The gameplay was, for the most part, just really simple and slow puzzles akin to Inside but with less chaotic moments that really stick out. Like, I'll never forget the weird siren things in Inside, and the Hairshrieker here was cool and all but I don't feel like it was that interesting or impactful. It's also sort of an issue when half of the gameplay is watching animations of you sticking yourself back together after being brutalized. You don't know how many times I had to let those monkeys beat the shit out of me trying to figure out how to get some donuts, it as really tedious. That being said, I enjoyed my time with this game overall. The message was really nice and the experience was incredibly unique, I can see why this game would be one of someone's favorites if it struck a chord with them. Very cute experience overall.

EpicSponge101 finished Poppy Playtime
I love shitty horror games that come in increasingly expensive installments with a 30 minute first part that does nothing but introduce the mascot. The tape guy's death was funny at least.

Ran through the only cup in the game and it was pretty cute, but severely lacking in content. Roomba and powerups are iconic though.
