Pretty fun but I kinda hate missable achivements :>

I couldn't avoid playing this game after playing my all-time favorite game (so far)... Chicory.

Chapter 1: šŸŽ¬
It took me almost the whole chapter to get into this game! I tried it a few different times, but eventually, when the second chapter started, it kinda clicked :>

Chapter 2: šŸ„
I enjoyed ordering beans, making a theme song, and... getting the band together šŸ˜Ž. The game didn't hit until the start of chapter 3, though.

Chapter 3: šŸ“ā€ā˜ ļø
This is where I got fully invested in the game, I'd say. Exploring with the pirates, following the map, and finding secrets felt really fun. It reminded me of a game I used to play as a child. Often indie games feel like reading a children's book. It gives me a joy that is hard to match...

Chapter 4: šŸ
The game took a very unexpected turn for me here. It focused on the whole time mechanic, which I liked. It reminded me of Stardew/Animal Crossing, with how you had to be exact on time a lot of the time. It felt similar to both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the film Klaus...!

Chapter 5: šŸ¦„
This was probably the longest chapter and... one of the best. I didn't care much for the conflict between the people, basically? But otherwise, it had a lot of fun things. I almost expected it to be done, but then I got the magical school arc, which was really fun, with Metroidvania mechanics???

Chapter 6: šŸŒŒ
Kinda short? Not much to say about it. It felt a little simple, and apparently, every indie game has a mountain climbing section!

Chapter 7: šŸ” Mimimimimimimi

Well, while I'm still considering Chicory my favorite game...? This game was phenomenal. It did so many creative things, had some awesome songs, fun characters, awesome sound design, and really engaging dialogue. I did, however, miss the more open-world styled exploration in Chicory... I preferred the top-down view more. Wandersong, to me, almost felt too linear at points with not enough secrets to find. I'm not sure if that's a negative for the game itself or just my opinion!

Can't WAIT to see what Other Wishes do next!!!

Lil Gator Game

[Thoughts before starting/buying]

I saw this game on a Skurry stream, I kinda watched some gameplay in his video but stopped watching when I realized I probably want to play this myself!, it looks really fun so I wanted to get it.

[Reflections]

I think I liked this even more than A short hike?, I just wish it was longer, it only took me 6 hours to finish, as soon as either of the devs for this or A short hike makes another gameā€¦ Iā€™ll be buying it.

Thereā€™s not much else to reflect on. I knew what I expectedā€¦? obviously it could have been longer, more emotionall developed or have more content but it doesnā€™t really need to. Thatā€™s not why Iā€™m playing these kinds of games.

But yeah awesomešŸ˜Ž

Favourite Characters:

2023-03-17 - Midnight trials

Started it for the first time, I like the main menu theme, it's pretty cute. I also enjoy how the settings menu looked. First thing about the humor that stood out is when I first got the pot lid and then it made me "get" it again but the name was changed to shield. That's the kinda humor I play indie games for :p, most of these "wholesome" indie game has the same kinda humor.

2023-03-17 - Afternoon Ventures.

Iā€™m still enjoying the game, but it does feel very similar to A short hike, not really a bad thing. It puts itā€™s own spin on it.

I like the dialogue even more here than in ā€œA short hikeā€, itā€™s even more discord-esque šŸ˜

Favourite moment today: When I sat on the trash shop owners chair (and got an achievement), I really wanted it to give me n achievement and I was so happy when it actually gave one. Iā€™m noticing a trend with indie titles such as this one, Iā€™m not that into them at first but slowly something makes me love them?, atleast towards the end/middle.

The main quests are so fun, EVA USED ā€:3ā€. Well that was quick, I already finished the game. The ending made me cry :(

Epilogue notes:

Ohhhh I love the items you get in the post-game!!, The honk hornā€¦ I love that you get infinite stamina!, a way to find all the scrap and and and yeah the baby mode? I wanna play more games nooow. This game brought me so much joy and once again reminds me how much fun these kinda games are.

mae. (might update review later, when i've played more)

Table tennis minigame GOATED

mid game, suprisingly i grew up playing mario party 9, so while im aware it's not very liked i still have lots of nostalgia for it.

Carto - First PlaythroughšŸŒ²

[Before buying/starting for the first time]

I have been interested in this game for a while now!, It looked really cute, had some interesting quirky gameplay mechanics and just had an amazing artstyle, I bought this game along a few other indies that looked great, I will play and reflect my thoughts on them here on Backloggd... Though I do actually write reviews in my note app since I tend to write during gameplay, I do the same when watching films, though in games it's easier to take breaks and doesn't break up the flow as much as during a game, atleast not during major sections of a story-heavy game.

[Reflections]

I finished the game now after 3 sessions in total!, it was quite short but pretty sweet, it grabbed me emotionally towards the end. I just wished you could continue playing some post story content but it's all right.

The game was worth my money!, Carto had great humor, one of my most liked things about it. The map mechanics kept it's charm, except on the iceberg area, that was the only part where I actually didn't have the will to figure the right placement out and where I ended up googling. Other than that I had fun with the various puzzles, not super complicated though.

I think the music was a little simple and didn't have enough distinct themes based on the area you were in. But it was sweet and I can see myself listening to it on spotify!

I enjoy short games like this, it was what I expected , maybe more emotional as I was expecting a more simple puzzle game with a map gimmick to unlock secret areas, I have realized in the past that I don't love quiet main characters, it makes it harder to relate to them emotionally, but I also think the payoff of a silent character talking towards the end of the game in strong emotional moments makes those moments feel more special.

I would say that it just felt a little empty and dull, and the areas felt really short.

Thoughts on RDR2 šŸ“ - HUGE SPOILERS

This will be a REALLY long journal of me playing RDR2, so if no one reads the full review, Iā€™m not blaming you. The point isn't to see people's reaction anyways it's more just to feel a bit more important after sharing your thoughts out to the world, so maybe it's just to make myself feel better.

I had a difficult time getting really into this game, in all itā€™s amazing glory. I mean I was always amazed that it was a videogame and every single time I play this game i find something new to be amazed by. I have never played a game as immersive as this.

This is the first time Iā€™m writing down my thoughts on a game during my first playthrough. But Iā€™m afraid I will miss a lot of things if I donā€™t start writing down things earlyā€¦ Iā€™m just in awe about what rockstar managed to accomplish with this world. I can see myself playing this game so much more. Iā€™m currently in the beginning of Chapter 4 and itā€™s really starting to pick up storywiseā€¦ I mean the missions have always been fun but now Iā€™m starting to get attached to the characters.

Iā€™m sure this game has gotten enough praiseā€¦ buuut not from me. I just love games. Best form of entertainment in my opinion. Even though I love films. The fact that I just today randomly stumbled upon one of the bigger towns by accident amazed me. Not sure what the name is just yet but Iā€™m sure Iā€™ll get to visit it later in the story. I also remember a desert from Online which Iā€™m not even allowed to enter yet it seems like. It seems huge though, I guess itā€™s part of a later part of the game. Itā€™s just so very likely that I managed to miss something in this game.

Just finished the poker story quest, as someone who learned playing poker from this game, I enjoyed it but I wish it were longer. It would also be cool to be able to come back there and play high stakes poker again. Itā€™s kinda plain to just bet 5 dollars per game but I can see how they wanted to limit the amount of money you could win from mini games!

Iā€™m enjoying the quests around Saint Denis lot. It reminds me of running around Novigrad and Beauclair in W3, with going around different closely packed buildings and completing storylines. The Artist Wayā€™s storyline was fun. I always enjoy exploring the interiors of the missions, it feels like you discover secret things that you arenā€™t supposed to see.

After almost 100 hours in this game, I am just now realizing how the map works. Iā€™m noticing Arthur drawing stuff he discovers which makes sense. The exploration is so good, thereā€™s tiny hidden things everywhere and itā€™s better than I realized at first. I like how the map doesnā€™t get filled up with icons like in most open world games. Whenever you spot a cool structure on the map, itā€™s usually something unique and interesting there, almost always, it really makes you feel like youā€™re discovering the world. And not just walking from place to place, I never felt so much immersion with a game before. Even something like clouds are really dynamic and immersive looking

I ended up taking a break after I came back from the island. Not sure why but I had played a lot those past days and I needed a break, I slowly feel like playing again tough.

Okay so I really felt like grinding the mainstory out when I came back, so i... did.

I went through... Arthur's diagnosis... Dutch's fall... The hope for a better future for John's family...

I might have rushed it through a little but I really thought it made sense for Arthur not to explore too much with such little time left.

I have been playing as John for a few days now and it's so amazing, I feel much more free without the pressure of doing the main quest. I have finally started getting into Hunting the legendary animals and I also JUST realized you can upgrade your satchel.

I love exploring the desert, Armadillo feels very western even though the plaugue is going around. I haven't been to the town furthest to the left yet but hopefully soon. Blackwater is really nice, probably my favourite town. I love that you get to build up Beavers hope from nothing but I'm not sure how much customizabilty there is. Hopefully some.

One thing I hated was how John looked at first, I had to change up his whole freaking style so he could look decent, I guess it makes sense that he aged but why did they make him looks so stupid.

I think currently I prefer playing as John but that might change eventually, Maybe it's just the new character that makes it feel more fun. One problem I noticed is that you can't swim at all as John which I have now read is because he couldn't back in the first game either.

I have hunted about 5 legendary animals so far... It's really cool to see the unique designs but the hunting itself is really straight forward, just inspect clues a few times and then you find it. I LOVE making the outfits and stuff, really makes it worth it and I almost don't want to hunt them all. I also worry that I missed some animals in Guarma that will be permanently missable :((, hopefully not.

I guess I just finished the epilogue, and it's time to post this note even though I might end up playing more. I'm going to keep it really short, I read up what happens in rdr1 because I have no plans on ever playing it...

It's sad, I loved this game but I'm also starting to feel done for now. I wanna do something else. Amazing game, I have already mentioned that though.

cute game, i got for Christmas last year and I'm thankful for that!

it has some really unique mechanics.

This game has always been really nostalgic to me. It's fun but very short.

Not really a game that can be completed...

But it's an enjoyable game to play while doing something else. I usually play it in periods and take long breaks in between.

Great game, story is what i expected from it, a bit boring at times, while it's a thing in most of the LEGO games, i got a little annoyed at the transitions between the level stages and i kinda wish you could skip them, a LOT of characters, and sadly i don't know most of Marvels characters outside of the Mcu.

But i had a lot of fun exploring the game and 100% my first LEGO game, i would rate it 8/10

It's been a while since I played this. I'm considering replaying it to a write a real review!, it's a great game but since it's been so long I can't say much.

Got this for free from epic games! I was planning on getting it for steam but this was nice.

This is a sweet short indie game that revolves around two young girls trying to stop a big hotel from being built, you get to photograph different animals and help clean up the island on which they live to convince the mayor to stop the construction.

I really enjoyed how this game avoided giving a lot of tasks at once. Indie games tend to be more realistic and honest with tasks which I appreciate. You never really get overwhelmed. I don't really enjoy tasks like those in big AAA games, like when you just get overwhelmed by repetitive tasks. It's just not very rewarding to finish those tasks.

The animals were pretty easy to find! It was fun to listen to their sounds to find them. I also found it interesting that some were locked to the story, it made it very special to find them, the game also had a small thing where when you did a major task, a newspaper about it came out, it felt rewarding.

The walking from A to B got boring after a while, the following tracks were also pretty similar every time. I also wish the photos you took mattered at all, It felt like they just got mattered and I doubt they even got saved anywhere. The photographs weren't very exciting either. It was basically just point-and-click.

I have a hard time relating to characters that don't have dialogue, at least when there isn't enough of a replacement making up for it. In cross-code, the main character Lea had a speech problem which made her use a limited vocabulary. But I was still able to relate to her since you could tell she was struggling with putting her thoughts out. But here Alba kinda just felt like an empty shell to me. I just wish she had more dialogue!

It would also be fun if you were able to enter some of the interiors! it always adds some immersion to explore a few houses, doesn't have to be more than a few though.

Also being able to get some cosmetics is always really nice. I enjoy how Chicory and TOEM did cosmetics. Maybe a tourist shop that sold hats based on the rare animals found around the island... Or maybe you could craft your own hats and more with scrap you find around the island.
