My personal favourite from the FROMSOFTWARE catalogue so far. It's a divisive title definitely, and that stems mostly from how incredibly INCREDIBLY unforgiving this game is.

With how Souls games are usually gauged on difficulty, there's a certain leeway in how you can approach something, maybe you can use a different weapon, level up to get better stats, or even call friends to make it an easy fight. Not in this game.

I think this is the only game where the attage of 'getting good' truly has to be ingrained if you want to progress. There is no other way to finish, master, and enjoy this game unless you spend hours and hours of your time playing frustrated and angry with how much you are not good enough yet.

But over that horizon of disappointment lies true enjoyment. I must admit that with how unrelenting this game WANTS you to play how it wants you to play it, it can seem too linear and stubborn.

That type of game isnt always for everyone, and that's fine.

But this is the only game after Super Hexagon that have given me that feeling of sereneness.

I still have yet to finish FROMSOFT's mainstream catalogue of souls games (and coming up Armored Core VI), but I think this game is going to be hard to dethrone in my eyes.

My quintessential pick for the arcade aircraft shooter genre. This game was A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I was not a big Ace Combat fan, however I did binge play some of the games on the PSP and PSP Go and my time with those games made me fall in love with huge scale-based games.

HUGE aircrafts and cool things like that.

This game is going to be in my backlogs until i can experience it again in VR, as it does support it.

I dont particularly have had much experience with this genre, but from what I know, Ive experienced one of the best it can over, and Id love to see if that is truly the case some day.

This game in a void is great. great pacing, huge highs in the story, and a really batshit narrative.

Maybe in an arcade jet fighter game perspective, this should be a 5/5. But I'd have to recheck some day.

My second dive into souls-like and I can see how people consider this a masterpiece. From the seething atmosphere, tight gameplay, and that fromsoft's charm, this is truly, I think the pinnacle of a Dark Souls game.

My only and ONLY gripe with this game is how the endgame seems to be scaled in terms of difficulty / damage. With prior souls-like games you can get away with having a lot of variety in your setup in terms of skill points used. However this game demands you have a threshold of vigor to not be one shot by a lot of the scaled enemies near the endgame.

I feel like if this one thing was taken more care of in the final product, this could easily be one of my favourites.

In spite of that however, I think this game deserves the love and awards it has been receiving, and will continue to receive in the future.
