A very impressive, fun Gameboy title. A good addition to the franchise, but is pretty short.

The game has some control/physics issues related to trying to land a jump onto a small platform that really knock the score down. It was still fun, but just barely meets the level of quality to call it a Mario game.

This version had the best mix of puzzles that I've seen yet with the inclusion of free and mega modes.

Stopped playing due to the ridiculously long dialog sequences that took minutes to click through as fast as possible. The game was fun, but did start to get repetitive. I probably made it about 40% through before I'd had enough.

More of a digital puzzle than a game, but it's a good comfort-food-like experience for me. Good for MANY hours of repetitive puzzle activity.

One of the best the Gameboy has to offer. Lots of good puzzle platformer gameplay. Some levels require perfect timing and can take quite a while to complete.

A as boardgamer, this ticked a lot of boxes for me. It's a card-based tableau rougelite with a dungeon crawling theme. Great decisions to make and a good feeling of progression. I found it to be a great pick up and play game even though it is probably a tad long per session to be perfect for that genre.

Objectively, it's a weaker top-down twin-stick shooter with pixel graphics, but it was enough fun to run though to the end.

A relatively easy Nintendo platformer. It was pretty fun and the baby crying didn't annoy me as badly as I was expecting.

I felt like it started weak, but I didn't know what the series was about, either. In the end I had quite a bit of fun with it. Lots of exploration with fairly easy puzzles to figure out (but challenging to actually complete at times) and 15+ bosses each with their own patterns to learn.

2017

Not well-suited for the smaller screen of the Switch Lite. I think I'm overlooking clues to help solve puzzles because I can't tell they're on-screen.
Update: I picked this up for PC and I'm playing through it now.
Final Review: Some moments of frustration trying to figure out what to do next. Good exploration aspects and a very satisfying, beautiful setting. Easy puzzles in a mostly casual style. I was hooked.

I had put it down for a year or so, so I forget how tough it was early on, but the last half was BRTUAL. Every stage has boss fight levels of difficulty. I was swearing at level designers after beating some of them. I beat you. Eat me.
