while i absolutely fucking love damacy, there is no need to play the original in 2021. katamari forever is a superior reimagining of the first game on ps3, while reroll exists on newer consoles and is playable on handheld. play those instead, as brilliant as this game is

i like dan salvato as a person but this game is just. bad. like real bad. if you know the twist the game is boring, if you dont know the twist the game is scary for a couple minutes, if you know how vns work or are able to use windows explorer this game is boring,
better than the first one in almost every way (except maybe music, they're even on there)
sure the levels are paced a lot differently but they're great fun if you can master the mechanics the game wants you to know

very good game + a beautiful tribute to the mother series / rpg maker indie games. however a lot of the late game feels very derivative of other games in the genre. i get that it's a love letter but when the specific ending trope has been done by so many different rpg maker games its a little tired. still very enjoyable and the hikikomori route is very fun. was worth the wait

music makes this worthwhile, the game itself is insanely thematically dissonant. will make you appreciate yume nikki more though
