i enjoy the format of BOTW a lot more than traditional zelda games, and whilst i enjoyed my time with TOTK a lot, there's no denying it is heavily reliant on a lot of the old systems and mechanics introduced in the former game. there were far fewer moments that stood out to me in TOTK, which is partially because no sequel could ever match the influence that BOTW had on gaming as a whole. i like the fuse mechanic a lot, but i wish it was more expansive with the ability to combine multiple resources into one weapon. bows not being able to be fused was a bit of a letdown, and needing to fuse fruit to each arrow to achieve elemental effects was pretty annoying
i'm also not sure i played the game in its "intended" order because i completed the geoglyphs quest pretty early on, and the realization that the light dragon is zelda kinda ruins the entire storyline

aughhhhh man idk. i spent like 100 hours with this and in the end my opinion is just the same "this is cool but they don't really do anything with the core game design of botw" as it was when they first started showing the game. kinda underwhelmed
if i had to sum it up, it feels like they had this amazing building engine they were developing independently and then said "hey we could try putting this into breath of the wild". and it just doesnt really end up feeling like more than that to me
