i miss the stunts i could do in pc shooters like quake/arena fps and find normal boomer stuff pretty middling, while "character action" takes such as ultrakill etc are good options and fortune's run is just as fun

quake+chainsaws is an idea that still sells, just make it dmc aggressive

there's a lot of witness in this but puzzles are not as tedious to go through, they are faster to solve and you can just skip boring panels to the funny one
and some antichamberness makes you remember rooms where you learn specific rules

Catched up again. The best thing about devil may cry is that it's 100% base gameplay and the same goes for ultrakill. No qtes, no platforming with zero tension, no annoying section to go through every time, just arcade rushes og base gameplay without unpolished downtime.
the problem is i dont get anything from elaborated coin combos that delete the screen in an instant

If it weren't for the combination of covid lockdown and broken pc I would've never played this, took me months to grind through half of the story and some of the most boring and stupid gaming there is. Has it share of woke mega verbose writing and the roguelike mode is the one thing that would make for a neat indie game on its own. but stays trapped in a gambling app

I think the 90s stuff you have to experience are just this and ace combat 3. yu-no, half life, homeworld, ff7, mgs, thief, whatever else, i stopped caring.
one gives you an idea of what boomer shooters could be, the other probably inspired baldr games. ambitious games

quake 3 is cool too

mid vn trapped in a 50 hours game of the same 3 encounters

dead and doesn't play that well
some guns are too good at chasing (sniper rails, rapid fire stuff etc) and dont fit the idea of gameplay
ground vehicles are useless since you can ski and fly
you can fire and drive vehicles at the same time, meaning single individuals just steal them instead of carrying people through the map, tldr all vehicles are just stat boosts
a lot of useless classes
most people just go and fight the most boring battles in the middle of the map instead of progressing the game
ctf mode is fine but still untouched after decades. generators can go
Fundamentally wonderful take on shooters, it looks awkward and slow but it's a deception, it's a mix of ctf speedrunning and dramatic long range projectile shots that might or might not miss, like the longest basketball shots you'll ever see, it's up there with quake stunts and maybe a bit more tense. It only needed different devs

someone played all the quakelive, titanfall, ut99, cs surf etc stuff and made a game for my tribe thats not quake arena again but will remind most of nudoom just with matrix wallrun stuff. It's just a shame a lot of enemies are quake stormtroopers mostly meant to fit in small arenas with enough verticality which is where the game works. Everything else is about plain arenas where enemy projectiles are too easy to dodge and the combat is mostly strafe to win. Tldr, there is some cool combat in this for fps fans, it's just too little because enemies suck
