Things I hate About Games I Love

I stole this idea from HunterMask who got it from hotpoppah and its the sister list to this Saying Good Things About Games I Don't Like

Gonna keep it limited to one per franchise

Rex is a 2 phase, one lifebar per phase bossfight with no checkpoint in between
The Liquid fight has a time limit along with a specific mandatory way to win
The Answer
Regina isn't the main playable character, she has to share the spotlight with Dylan. The T-rex is upstaged by a Giganotosaurus in a late game asspull
The Cortex Fight is garbage, you're just chasing him in a space corridor slowly until you spin him 3 times.
The third world has no talismans, just orbs which were formerly the secondary collectable in the past 2 hubs
Ripto's is a 2 stage boss, with the first phase being "grab the powerups before Ripto does" and the second phase is a permanently flying battle
Moneybags
The game is slower than a frozen snail, Hot n Cold for Chocographs suck and the secret boss is locked behind them
Bed of Chaos
You cannot replay missions without restarting the game unlike the first game, which they fixed in the third one.
The characters are very copy and paste and way too many characters have "super explosive wave" "full power energy wave" and "full power energy wave blast volley" for filler attacks. Sim Dragon was annoyingly unfun
Playing as Chris and his damn small keys
The combat (goes for Torna as well though it is better), the stupid gacha and the awfully implemented field skill system. It should have pulled from your full inventory of blades, not only the equipped ones.
(a lot of these goes for the remakes as well)

Awful level curve
Too many of the iconic Johto pokemon are locked to Kanto
The level jump from the 16th gym to Red is absurd due to most of them being weaker than the elite 4
No rings for Metal Sonic and then the Robot while being a back to back fight
Malenia, Radagon/Elden beast, Renala

What do they have in common? They are that stupid "One life bar per phase" crutch fromsoft relies on too much since DS3. I fully expect formsoft to rely on this again in the dlc

Rykard too but tbh he's a super easy gimmick fight to the point I forgot about him when I made this list initially
Very Grindy, horrendous translation and localization and its pretty much mandatory to be digivolving and de-digivolving your mons whenever you could.
I hate the Rush and Breaker Styles the the point I'd rather let the boss heal to beat them with Beast/Slugger or the legendayr styles.

I never cared for the host club minigame and only did it for Majima's Mad Dog Style.
(Goes for the entire Cold Steel game quadrillogy and Reverie)

Alisa, and that the games CLEARLY wanted her to be the main love interest to the point they might as well have not given the player the option to romance other characters.
Limited actual building mechanics, even for a 2003 console park builder and manager.
Could only use 3 digsites per park on ps2 and the Raptors and T-rex only had access to their JP3 skins
There is literally zero reason to not build on the giant square map

Jurassic Park: OG - The tornado announcements would make me shit my fucking pants as a kid.

@hotpoppah "Attention, there is a storm approaching the island" said the apathetic intercom voice

Damn why do you hate breaker?

@RMauro I prefer harder hitting attacks. Breaker got style but slugger is just more fun for me

I also hated all the backtracking near the end of MGS1 with the PAL card.

Metal Gear Solid is such an amazing game but yeah I just didn't like the REX fight at all, combined with having to get in a fist fight with Liquid then getting chased...it was definitely cool cinematically but man I just didn't enjoy it in regards to gameplay at all xD

Also I found the Rush style okay, I used it more so as just a movement option but Breaker was actual cancer for me.

As someone who loves Xenoblade 2's combat to death I am curious what you don't like about it. The other stuff I get, though

@willin46 I don't care for the series MMO style combat, it just feels like its the worst of turn based and action. I understand why its done in actual MMOs but single player games don't get that leeway from me. Getting hit by the normal actions (the ones without on the ground indicators) despite not being anywhere near the attack (they attack in front of them, you're behind but still take the damage cuz you're their aggro target despite them not turning around so it actually came in contact with you) and I've never liked auto attacking as a main combat style are my largest annoyances. If I have the ability to fully move my character around, I don't see any good reason why that attack should have hit me in that example. The whole break topple etc system is fine and all but I did not enjoy engaging with the combat in the slightest.

That's fair. I guess I always viewed Xenoblade's combat more like a turn-based game that plays out in real time, but I get why it doesn't click with everyone. Also, you misspelled my username.

@willn64 Sorry about that

You misspelled it again
