these game titles are becoming so goofy i just might make my own game and call it "Life Must Survive" or something

I'm already predisposed to not enjoy Survivor Arena games after like half an hour of gameplay, this one got especially boring with how much it tries to ape from Hades. I'm not against games taking obvious inspiration from others, but when you sculpt so much of your creation around one without that model's incredibly cohesive characters and storyline, you're just left with a dead husk of an experience

At its current state in EA its pretty good but just a little too RNG dependent, the boons are extremely imbalanced and if you dont get one of the few builds that can actually win, you're pretty much screwed until you can grind up enough equipment. I'm fine with a grind but I need to feel like i'm making progress, this game loses that fairly quickly in its current state, but its still pretty fun for a few hours.

Hopefully 1.0 improves things, I'll return to the game then

neat. more involved gameplay than most survivor-likes, good art design, cute dialogue

Quite good for an early access game, becomes stale after a few hours but the beginning is very fun with new unlocks every run. Great $7 game!

Certainly a more Hades-like RPG than the other bullet-hell auto rogues, this concept is interesting indeed with the new elements. It's terribly hard at the start, and it may take you a while to break the twenty minute mark. Some negatives stand out, such as several of the characters being too similar, only having one playing field, and a few Steam Joypad control issues, but otherwise it's a good use of your time. Let's see where this goes in the future.

Nice game, gonna wait for full release

Game is a ton of fun. I love all of the gear you can get to customize the characters. This game still needs a lot of content to be added. They have a roadmap for it all so I can see this rising up once they get that all in.

This is if Hades and Vampire Survivors had a baby. Kinda leans too far past "homage" into "low-key copied" in terms of the stuff it takes from Hades. It's still in early access, so I hope as time goes forward the game can develop its own identity a bit more.

That being said I really enjoy what they're cooking

Un Vampire Survivors con una estética de Diablo y Hades. Logra el cometido: es divertido. Aun faltan actos y variedades a agregar, pero si te gusta el género no está mal darle una prueba.

Still a long way to go, but looking good so far!

alibaba hades with a side of wish.com vampire survivors

Neat little survivor game that's a lot more active than Vampire Survivors. I don't mind that it's obviously borrowing from Hades, I feel like it's fine for the game to take what works and make a nice, enjoyable time wasted with some great art.

Death Must Die is Vampire Survivors meets Diablo 2 meets Hades and that is as potent a combination as it sounds. I was instantly hooked but quickly fell off due to a feeling of stagnation in progression. I really struggled to get past the 10 minute mark with the vast majority of my runs which resulted in me running the first bit over and over again. Since there’s only 1 map and maybe a half dozen boons per god, I quickly felt like I had seen most of what the game had to offer in its current state. Sadly, I found the personalities and dialogue of the gods to be much lacking in comparison to what Hades set forth as the standard. Let's face it, Supergiant is hard to compete with but, since the game mimics that style so heavily, it’s basically begging to draw the comparison. Very much looking forward to checking this out after it’s fleshed out into a full release because it definitely showed potential.

This game being $7 helps so much.

Death Must Die isn't a bad game, and before I hit the content wall I enjoyed what I played, but this is one of the most aesthetically derivative games I've seen sold on Steam that wasn't an asset flip. The Dark Souls dark fantasy trappings, divorced from the talented and fucking weird staff staff at Fromsoft doesn't leave much to hook onto. Halls of Torment's take on dark fantasy is an unfavorable comparison, having noticeably more personality despite early translation issues (and frankly, being a less interesting game than DmD). The Hadesesqe deities that pop up and give quips fall flat, their writing and designs are more mundane than Supergiant's pantheon, while still being hammy enough to clash with the rest of the game's overly serious setting.

The game fares better, with the huge caveat that there is a content drought that other games in this budding (bloated?) genre don't have to put up with. The highlight of the game is the gear system, allowing for meta-progression in the way you'd see in a ARPG like Grim Dawn that can synergize with specific builds that you could try to draft into. Again, hardly an original idea even within the context of the genre, but one that with more abilities and bolder application of modifiers could be an addicting reason to repeat runs.

I feel bad posting this review, because there is more content coming down the pipeline and despite how negative I've been, if you've exhausted Vampire/Soulstone survivors and you're looking for another game to scratch that itch, there's enough going on in DmD to justify a $7 buy in. There's just a lot of this game that comes off as cynical or unoriginal and it left enough of a bad taste in my mouth to bring down my opinion of the game.

Three of the five characters are nearly identical

For an early-access title, this game has an overwhelming amount of potential. As a Diablo II/Hades fan, I want nothing more than to see this game succeed with its full release.

The following content update is projected for Q1 2024, so I will likely update my review when I get my hands on it.

Hades for guys that jack off to Belle Delphine.

It's fine. I like the Diablo-esque loot system but tbh I'd recommend Halls of Torment over this any day of the week.

✔️ Played on Steam Deck, it works fine (15/01/2024).

So far it looks nice, it's entertaining and it has good replayability value. It needs a bit of polishing imo: the characters don't really have much uniqueness to them, most of the time you can play the same build with any of them and it will feel the same. There's also some builds that are clearly out performing the rest ([spoiler] Curse/Time/Justice mainly[spoiler]).

Also, I don't think it's a good idea to use emotes and abbreviated writing in the dialogue as a way of giving characters some sort of personality since not everyone that plays the game is familiar with the expressions/ internet slang and it looks like a pain for later localization/translation while trying to keep the essence of the character's personality.

really good vampsurvlike, excited to play more out of early access

a vampire survivor coded roguelite that is actually engaging

i think i may need to kill death but idk

As of 31/12/2023 this game is in EA, so there will be lots of updates to it.
This plays similarly to Vampire Survivors mixed with Hades (the dialogues and gods stuff). It's quite fun but it can feel repetitive after a while since there's still only one stage. You can make it harder and adjust the difficulty after beating that phase so you can get better drops. there are 5 classes so there's already some good variety! I have 8.3h in the game now but I'll keep playing it!

Halls of Torment-თან შედარებით ოდნავ ქაოტური და ინტენსიურია, ასევე რენდომიზირებული აითემების შენახვა რომ შეგიძლია ეგეც კარგია
