It's funny that a disgraced 90s rockstar fart has something to reveal about FPS.

We have gone from understanding the space designed for the challenge of navigation and combat to offering it as a scripted process between arenas with action at 2 heights (maybe 3-4)

One of the things I remember about Duke Nukem 3d was the arsenal and the architectural makeup contributed to a slightly more irreverent (and farting) aesthetic that differentiated it from any Doom clone, ironic that forever feels like a frankenstein from the 2000 shooter without nothing that differentiates it beyond his big mouth

No sir I will not "Hail to the King", this is America and we live in a Democratic Society; I will not be controlled by your monarchy Mr. Nukem

its really not that bad. it has funny little side things and you can throw poop. yeah, howdy doodys, poop, crappo, scat brown trout, colon bombs, the ol' bumb browny, feces, anal output, booty apples, kaka and turds. yeah man, turds.

Expected to find an overhated blast here, but no... I get it. I totally get it. In actual disbelief that this took 12 years to make, and not 12 minutes. Jon St. John's voice acting as Duke is once again sublime, but otherwise this is an overly-simplistic dud. The Disaster Movie/Epic Movie of video gaming, wants so hard to be a parody of the seventh-generation shooter (which - especially at this time - is a perfectly acceptable target) but mistakes lazy references with actual satire. I can get down with immature stupidity but you gotta have some actual gameplay here too, I mean this has to be in contention for worst level design of all time - with zero exploration to be had as you make a straight-line, laggy trek to the exit each and every time in uninteresting environments. Still far from one of the worst games ever, it's definitely a superior Gearbox outing than Borderlands - which this is still (somehow) clunkier than, though this is also shockingly less obnoxious and the combat here is at least diverting unlike that other one. Plus I applaud any game with this amount of interactive side shit to do, including chill levels where you kind of just fuck around and kick back. But overall it's not even memorable trainwreck levels of bad, just boring bad - especially when its loading times must take around one hundred thousand years. And FUCK that pinball machine, man.

Poop and a RC car? Where do sign up?

Imagine the worst possible Duke Nukem game. Now make it even more sexist and retrograde. Now make it an unintentional journey through the most obnoxious design trends of '00s era shooters. Congratulations, you've arrived at Duke Nukem Forever. I wish I could make a "Did Not Finish" joke here, but I forced myself to see it through to the end, just to say I could. It emphatically was not worth it.

You can play air hockey in this game
Also the vehicles in this game feels like driving in Gmod

You need to be able to throw poop in more games

that one shigeru miyamoto quote

Get off vent or I'll have you bent

I want to gouge out my eyes. This game is horrible.

One of the best satirical pieces ever made

ENG: I'm not going to elaborate too much because it's not a game that deserves it. Its standardization of gameplay mechanics more similar to those of a generic Call of Duty were justly vilified at the time as much as its rancid humor. On that I agree. What I disagree on, which was said at the time, is the belief that this was REALLY the saga, a thing of the past that as of today is outdated. But no, Duke Nukem is not at all what is shown in Forever. Playably it was innovative, powerful, ingenious, and Duke Nukem as a character was a genuinely funny stereotype of 80s Hollywood action movies. Forever never seems to understand either the mechanics or the Duke character as such. If you played this horrifying piece of garbage, and were left with only this, I recommend you give the original a look. Because this is not Duke Nukem, never was and never will be.

I was going to give it only one star but that hive area and that dream sequence genuinely made me uncomfortable.

I followed the development of this game religiously. I was so excited when Gearbox picked this up, and my disappointment was immeasurable.

wasnt that bad just get over it

duke is awesome and badass good video game

It's really horrible, but at the same time it's almost essential because it's just so bad that everyone has to experience it for themselves to truly believe it.

Tbh I don't think this game is terrible, obviously it can not live up to a 18+ year dev cycle with the game being restarted multiple times.

DNF feels outdated even at the time of the game being released. The humor is dry, but the actual gunplay and gameplay is mediocre at best. However, it is what is it and I personally thought it was okay at most.

Working on getting every achievement one day on Steam, but shelved as of right now.

IF YOU DO PLAY
DUKE NUKEM FOREVER
YOU LIKE MEN!

Let's make a reservation right away - the relaunch of the long-awaited hit was not very successful. Yes, there are a lot of naked girls and other obscenity here; Yes, here Duke expresses himself in such a way that his ears wither - swearing is appropriate and not quite; initially there was a limit of two guns (later increased to 4); the graphics here are far from those of 2011

As a fun alternative to the dark and gritty id Software titles in the mid-90s, Duke Nukem 3D quickly became a cult classic and demanded a sequel. Duke Nukem Forever was anticipated for a few years, but it became a laughingstock due to constant engine revamps which were always behind the current tech anyway. The graphical advancement of this generation of consoles essentially ceased. At this point, 3D Realms really didn't have an excuse to keep delaying production. The publisher, 2K Games, dumped 3D Realms and gave the project to Gearbox to complete. Nobody actually expected or wanted this game to be released, and featuring completely mediocre everything, it was by far the Blunder of 2011.

At least it made me want to play 3D
