It’s okay. I got my ass kicked by the AI for a while, but I eventually mostly figured it out. It’s a little plain, but it’s a fine golf game

Good one for a rainy day. Never did figure out how to unlock the 4 locked characters after the credit roll.

Like most of the N64 it just aged poorly. It's playable I guess

A classic case of “first installment syndrome”.

I will say that the characters that were in the game are great, even ones like Plum and Maple, its got a soothing ost, the golf courses are really good and creative, especially Mario Star, and I gotta say, particularly love the mini-golf courses (that should’ve been something other Mario Golf games did more often). However, again, definitely can tell it’s the first Mario Golf game. It’s incredibly hard to get a proper idea of where you’re hitting the ball, the wind can be too powerful than given, some of the actual characters can be unbalanced, and the enemy AI is absolute BS to deal with. Trust me when I saw it was harder than it should be to do the VS matches. It’s not horrendous, but it’s also not the best. It’s right in the middle of being “meh” or “mediocre”.

As a side note: it’s a Mario game and Mario isn’t even playable at the beginning of the game? Let alone one of the last characters you need to unlock? What kind on nonsensical nonsense is this?!

Who the heck are Sonny and Plum?!?

リングを通すモードがすごく面白くて、正確なショットを前提としたゴルフゲームがこんなに面白くなるとは思わなかったなぁ。

party classic. insanely great music

One of the biggest struggles playing a game, and I've played a lot. This game is HARD. The CPUs and pars for each whole pull no punches and require pinpoint accuracy both in terms of aiming your shot as well as the actual button press timing. Missing a hole can (and usually will) cost you your whole game. This was one of my first golf games, so I don't know if the difficulty is this high for other games in the genre. Don't be fooled by mario and friends on the box man this game will whip you 6 ways to sunday.

Sad I didn't have this game growing up. A bit of a bittersweet thing thinking about what this game means to me now, but also OB Toad is my pure little child.

They really don’t make Mario spinoffs this quaint anymore. In fact, they just don’t make Mario Golf anymore. Maybe someday. I love this game (kisses it on the forehead)

it is the worst mario golf but mario golf is the best form of mario.

the character I enjoy most is baby mario

A good start to the Mario Golf series and a fun game, but without a lot of quality of life improvements we expect to see from golf games now. The greens are especially hard to read. A good variety of modes and multiplayer is fun, but it's disappointing to have many characters be much worse based on low drive strength.

such a relaxing game that would take years to 100%... don't think i can last that long...

Gameplay has aged pretty well and it's a fun game to play for a few casual rounds of golf, but there's nothing else much to it apart from that, as far as I can tell it's just an average golf game with Mario characters.

It's Golf. Far better than Golf that came before, mind you, but it's still Golf. But with Mario characters and some others we'll never see again.

fun but kinda hard and probably not my type

A solid entry in the Mario Gold franchise, with green courses and a very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Blocky graphics, but hey, it's the N64 baby, at least we don't get to play in the fog.

good golf game but the unlockables system is a catastrophe and the input lag on the emulated ports make it nigh unplayable. Best way to go is on everdrive with a downloaded save for all the extra characters.

The controls can be kinda janky at times and the course design is far from the best, but it's still a lot of fun.

Fun game but characters were insanely unbalanced.

I miss mini-golf! None of the newer games have the mini-golf stuff that this game had.
