good golf game but the unlockables system is a catastrophe and the input lag on the emulated ports make it nigh unplayable. Best way to go is on everdrive with a downloaded save for all the extra characters.

They really don’t make Mario spinoffs this quaint anymore. In fact, they just don’t make Mario Golf anymore. Maybe someday. I love this game (kisses it on the forehead)

it is the worst mario golf but mario golf is the best form of mario.

Like most of the N64 it just aged poorly. It's playable I guess

A classic case of “first installment syndrome”.

I will say that the characters that were in the game are great, even ones like Plum and Maple, its got a soothing ost, the golf courses are really good and creative, especially Mario Star, and I gotta say, particularly love the mini-golf courses (that should’ve been something other Mario Golf games did more often). However, again, definitely can tell it’s the first Mario Golf game. It’s incredibly hard to get a proper idea of where you’re hitting the ball, the wind can be too powerful than given, some of the actual characters can be unbalanced, and the enemy AI is absolute BS to deal with. Trust me when I saw it was harder than it should be to do the VS matches. It’s not horrendous, but it’s also not the best. It’s right in the middle of being “meh” or “mediocre”.

As a side note: it’s a Mario game and Mario isn’t even playable at the beginning of the game? Let alone one of the last characters you need to unlock? What kind on nonsensical nonsense is this?!

Who the heck are Sonny and Plum?!?

The original Mario Golf on N64 has not aged well with its gameplay, but it’s still a fun time, especially in multiplayer.

My biggest issues with the game are how randomly strong the wind is from course to course, plus how ridiculously overpowered the computer characters are when trying to unlock them.

party classic. insanely great music

This was one of the games i had growing up, one of like, 25 n64 games, a number that never grew at any point, so i played a lot of those specific games. i always liked this one, and i think, despite its simplicity, its aged well. chill music by the legend motoi sakuraba as well as solid gameplay that doesnt reinvent any single wheel at all but is just fine.

does not change the world, just a chill golf game with that solid golf game learning curve. always liked getting better at these over time. play it or somethin

they put like People in this game. i wante to play as yoshi thx

A solid entry in the Mario Gold franchise, with green courses and a very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Blocky graphics, but hey, it's the N64 baby, at least we don't get to play in the fog.

The controls can be kinda janky at times and the course design is far from the best, but it's still a lot of fun.

Fun game but characters were insanely unbalanced.

I miss mini-golf! None of the newer games have the mini-golf stuff that this game had.

It's Golf. Far better than Golf that came before, mind you, but it's still Golf. But with Mario characters and some others we'll never see again.

fun but kinda hard and probably not my type

リングを通すモードがすごく面白くて、正確なショットを前提としたゴルフゲームがこんなに面白くなるとは思わなかったなぁ。

For the first Mario golf game its great, innovating the golf genre and has so much personality and modes to play and try!

Maybe the truly great console golf game. The music, the controls, the courses and it all has that Mario charm to it. I don't even like golf in real life, but this game makes golf a blast. Unlike SirWalnut, I think this game has aged great and is still very much playable today because I'm not a big blubbering baby.

I loved mini golf in this game. Any other modes I rarely played. I wish mini golf stuck around in all of the later entries. HURRY UP ALREADY, UNH?

One of the biggest struggles playing a game, and I've played a lot. This game is HARD. The CPUs and pars for each whole pull no punches and require pinpoint accuracy both in terms of aiming your shot as well as the actual button press timing. Missing a hole can (and usually will) cost you your whole game. This was one of my first golf games, so I don't know if the difficulty is this high for other games in the genre. Don't be fooled by mario and friends on the box man this game will whip you 6 ways to sunday.

Surprisingly still fun to play even now.
