This game has no flaws to speak of, but it lacks the "oompf" that makes an all-time classic.

a good video game with a couple annoyances. not much of a platforming gamer so being able to hunt down extra life cells was nice to counteract my blatant skill issue

The fundamentals here are really solid. Movement feels really good and the game makes good use of its mechanics both with its platforming challenges and integration of movement into its combat. Navigation and exploration are generally good and their weaker aspects are compensated for by a beautiful aesthetic design.

Where the game stutters is in taking those excellent fundamentals and translating them into consistently engaging gameplay. Everything up to the Ginzo Tree was excellent and the escape sequence there is a masterpiece, but a lot of the content beyond that point was a lot more mixed in quality. Some sections were still great and managed to keep me engaged without issue. But these were overshadowed by the flaws. Sorrow Pass was probably the worst offender here, relying on wind and gliding mechanics that were neither interesting nor enjoyable to use. Kuro's Feather is honestly a net-negative on the game as a whole as it not only works poorly but also makes other platforming sections difficult since it uses the same key bindings as grabbing and climbing which caused frequent issues during my playthrough. Forlorn Ruins are slow to get through and the gravity mechanic they introduce is both confusing to learn and never develops in an interesting way. Mount Horu was generally good, but the escape sequence at the end was a disappointing conclusion to the game, suffering from unclear visual indicators, unpredictable obstacles that required multiple deaths to learn the pattern for, and (while a lot more subjective) felt jarring to complete as it felt really abrupt for the game to end right after the sequence finished.

I think Ori has the fundamentals of a masterpiece, but its currently lacking in execution. I haven't played Will of Wisps yet so I'm very excited to see how it developed on the great foundation this game provided because there really is some amazing stuff here that just needed the right world and enemy design to help make it shine.

The game is absolutly beautiful, the art, the soundtrack, everything in the artistic and level design is incredible. But that's all.

I kinda get the emotional thing people might like about it, but i dont care enough about the characters, especially when "that thing" happens 5min after the game starts. Just because they are pretty and cute does not make them likeable.

My cold heart aside, the gameplay elements are a strange thing. I like them, like the mechanics overall but their execution... spikes are hell, just like anything that envolves walls.

The escape moments after each element are really good in the first time you see. Then the game make sure you die a lot, and you need to replay all the way down again. In the end, after 50 attempts, i was not jumping of hype from a suppose to be epic moment.

The game is good, it's pretty, but i really can't give it more than 3.0. It's short and it's on gamepass, so why not.

The definition of a solid Metroidvania. Fans of the genre shouldn't skip out on this one. It's beautiful, plays really well, and is tons of fun to explore. It doesn't reach the heights that games like Guacamelee do for me, but it's pretty close.

A fun Metroidvania-style platformer with lots of cool abilities and extremely beautiful and vibrant visuals. The game was challenging, sometimes frustrating, but overall a decent balance if you're willing to tough it out. I liked the puzzle sections but I won't lie about some of the solutions being unclear. I had to cheese some of the platformer puzzles to progress in the game lol.

Now let's get down to my skill issues: I had a hard time 100% my save file due to an area that I missed which the map didn't indicate. I guess maybe that can be due to user error but it was literally a small section in the Ginso Tree that I visited but didn't step on. I literally went up and down the whole tree a good half a dozen times and let me tell you, I was about to cry lmao

With that being said, I didn't have as good of a time that I hoped I would with this game. Maybe it's because of the game's reputation and I expected a lot more from it. That's definitely a me problem though. There's various gimmicks throughout the game, especially in the major sections, most involving puzzles and platforming. I enjoyed a lot of them and when I figured out the solution to some of these section I was like "Ohhh, I get it now. That's really that's cool."

I also liked the save anywhere mechanic but I do realize it could be a problem for some. You have to be strategic as it uses your energy but if you're like me then you did lots of the collectibles and abilities to mitigate this problem. Although, I can totally see this being extremely frustrating for younger players.

I liked this game overall. The story was predictable and a little too saccharine for my tastes. It's the visuals and gameplay which I would say are mostly really good. The music was also good but some of the sections where the music is supposed to be emotional didn't really hit for me.

Once you get the full arsenal of movement the game becomes a lot more fun and almost trivial once you get the hang of things. I did have lots of fun zipping around and using enemies as bounce pads. The game rewards exploration and searching every nook and cranny to find something that can make Ori a much more fun character to play as.

I'd say the hardest parts about this game for me was honestly the sections with the owl, especially the last one. I was getting so mad after dying over and over that when the ending of the game occurred I didn't really care. I wish I felt some type of happiness or satisfaction with the ending but I didn't. Again, a lot of my problems boil down to skill issues and minor gripes with gimmicks, puzzles, and difficulty in some parts.

I definitely would recommend this game if you're into platformers and/or metroidvanias. It's challenging and it has lots to offer in it's core gameplay loop. Would I play this again? Maybe but I don't plan on doing so anytime soon. If you're a completionist then this is probably gonna be one of more simpler games that you can 100%. I don't like giving out number scores for things but if I had to then I'd say this is a high 7, low 8. Overall, good game, I liked it but I didn't love it like everyone else.

WATER TREE SCENE play this game for that alone. Then play will o the wisps.

Gameplay: 5
Art Style: 5
Story/Lore: 4.5
System: 4
Chracter: 4.5
Total: 4.6

Where it Shines:
Art - 10/10
Music - 8/10
Storytelling - 7/10

The Good:
All the movement in the game is really fun. I love all the different powers you get and moving around in the world can feel very satisfying.
The art style and music style and simple storytelling all compliment each other really well.

The Bad:
This game is just unfortunately too difficult. It's not that it's hard and rewarding, it's just frustrating. I was able to beat it in the end, but I found the game focuses a lot on gauntlet style platforming insta death sections, and it's very combat lite. I wish they had focused more on having fun platforming sections because the movement is really nice in the game, but instead they just make it obnoxious at the end of each biome.

Summary:
I really wanted to like this game, as it is beautiful. But the gameplay just felt a bit rushed, the world feels a bit empty, and the challenge is more frustrating than it is rewarding.

metroid vania q n precisa mirar? ah paraaaa

This is an okay Metroidvania. Praise is heaped upon it's art style but it strikes me as sort of generic. Controls great but the combat stinks and I thought some of the checkpointing was pretty frustrating

Fantastic game. Cannot wait for part 2

Maybe this is my fault. I kinda just hailed this as the best game I've never played, so I was pretty excited to get into it! But I have a lot of issues with this game, like a lot more than I was expecting. While this game is at times really beautiful, a lot of the visual effects that are just plastered all over the game make it so that it's really hard to tell what's going on, a lot of the visual information gets lost to me unless I squint. The combat leaves so much to be desired, it's literally just button mashing in a way that's not even really controllable by you. Also it faults in the same way many platformers do where they add precision platforming with floaty ass controls!!! I just don't understand why that's necessary at all, so inconsistent with stuff. The story is.... boring. So cut and dry and basic ass shit. Cute looking characters, devastation across the world, and you save it, wow, round of applause. I have no attachment to these characters and I just simply don't care about them. I played through this whole thing thinking that at some point when all the mechanics came around that I would finally have it click, and that the poorly implemented music and generic feel to it all was just a lapse of judgement. But then the credits appeared.

“ But since we're all gonna die, there's one more secret I feel I have to share with you. I did not care for Ori and the Blind Forest.”

incredible soundtrack, beautiful art design, really a breathtaking game. the story was cute too and man the prologue made me cry, great ending cutscene as well !
the platforming felt pretty tight and the combat was simplistic but that works in the games favour
i wish there were a larger variation of enemies but they were still always fun to fight and always a decent challenge
im very conflicted with the 3 escape scenes throughout the game - they are all incredibly beautiful and thematic, they gave me straight goosebumps. the fact that the music continues as you die is such a nice touch ive never played a game that does that. however, they were also rather poorly designed (the 2nd and 3rd one were), and often very confusing, leaving me frustrated during what should have been the highest peaks of this game
overall loved it very cool game :))

Super boring. One of the only games I've refunded on Steam.

I played it immediately after trying out Hollow Knight, so it was grating how uninteresting it was to play from the beginning.

Aesthetics won't carry me through an experience I don't like playing in most cases, and unfortunately this was one of them.

A visual and auditory dive into a magical forest. Some of the smoothest platforming I have ever felt, but lacks an interesting battle system.

jogo lindo, arte linda, trilha sonora linda, história linda. Lindo.

Very satisfying to play. Gorgeous artstyle. Emotional story. Can't wait to pick up Will of the Wisps.

Ends kind of abruptly, but it feels really good to play.

Pretty damn good, this was actually my introduction to the metroidvania genre and all in all I think it was a pretty good introduction to what is now my favourite genre.

This game is beautiful in every aspect, but the story is not that great and gameplay lacks in combat variation.
An awesome short gaming experience, not 10/10, but definitely worth the time to play it.

the scmovement in this game is unmatched
