This game is heavily underrated to me. The Story has you follow a gangster who was apparently involved with a number of scenes from the first movie, trying to build up his position in the Corleone Crime family, this is an interesting idea for a Godfather game, and shows its respect for the franchise. The Characters feel like game counterparts to their film ones, and well voice acted to, none of the voice acting is bad, and voiced by the actual cast from the film, amazing. The graphics are not the best, but aren't bad either, they look good as an Xbox 360 game from 2006. The gameplay is the fun that succeeds expectations. You go around the cities recruiting other businesses for the family by either applying pressure without going too far, a task for the owner, buying rackets hidden inside these establishments, bribing officers to look the other way, shoot gangsters with guns, that really pull you into the godfather gangster world, firing guns is fun too thanks to the crosshairs and impact they put on people, buy ammo from street traders, you can get other Corleone members to help you in shootouts or rob a bank, rob warehouses for illegal merchandise, the better you do at extorting businesses the more money you get, and you can accessorize your character too, improving the gameplay to more realistic and yet levels. Music and sound effects are both great, fits perfectly in tone for the Godfather franchise. The First Godfather videogame is one of the best gangster games of all time, and although not a masterpiece like the film, it's still worth it's recognition that most people don't give it.

I did not care for The Godfather videogame

I want a remaster. No other game let's you choke out random people on the street or throw a baker into an oven.

This game is surprisingly beloved online, and while I found it to be alright, I genuinely don't know where that's coming from. I guess it was good enough for them to make a movie out of it, I should check that out.

The game had an interesting system of managing fronts for your Family and protecting them from encroachments by rival Families, otherwise it's a generic GTA clone.

Faithful to the source

One thing that surprised me about this game was the faithfulness to the movies. It has been awhile since I have seen the first 2 films but I pretty much remembered everything as the game played out it was honestly a trip down memory lane. Sadly I wanted to give this a 3 and a half stars but I do have some issues that held it back for me. In addition , this is specifically for the xbox 360 version idk how the other versions fare.

What I enjoyed?

The map is honestly big for its time and was fun to drive around in. For its time I honestly could have imagined that people were pretty impressed with the size of the map. Furthermore, the cars felt good to drive, drifting around the streets was consistently fun. There was a fair amount of guns to choose from but I will leave that for the dislike section. In addition, the gunplay was fun when it wanted to work but as well will get into this more in the dislike section. Everyone you loved and remembered from the movies is here and seeing the scenes playout again was a blast , they genuinely did a good job with the cutscenes with the game.

Sadly there are issues

First and foremost the FPS in this game can go to abysmal levels. I know this was the era of 30FPS but I couldn’t even tell you the amount of times the game would freeze for full seconds while driving. This can be annoying during chase sequences since the enemy AI will literally glue onto you ALL the time even during the frame drops. This will translate into gun fights as things like explosives will make the FPS scatter around. On the topic the AI is extremely annoying with classic pinpoint accuracy, perfection detection and as mentioned will stick to you like glue while being chased in cars. It did hinder the immersion of a lot of sections since you are battling enemies and FPS at the same time on top of the annoying AI. Furthermore , while the map was big there really is not much to do around it. To explain, the content is repeated a lot so once you try most of what the map has to offer you have pretty much done it all. This becomes an issue if you want to 100% the map because to put it simply it's pretty boring to the point where I had to stop because I wasn’t having fun at all anymore. Speaking of not fun , while there are a good amount of guns to choose from the moment you realize the Tommy gun is OP and becomes insanely OP once you level up you literally will never use another weapon again.

In the end

I won’t lie, this game deserves a remake because if they could iron out the issues already present , add more onto the map and have the game run at a crispy 60FPS this game would be amazing. It's a bummer because I did enjoy this game a good amount but I cannot lie to myself that the issues did really hinder my time with it.

One of the best movie based games of all time. Crazy how this is the only licensed game of it's kind that really succeeded aside from Scarface. For a better experience play the Don's edition on PS3. New mechanics and other QoL changes.

Ahead of its time, One of the best open world games ever made, fun and playful but also a bit repetitive in some areas. Good story, nice level design, and very good animations and combat, for a game from 2006

uff juegazo lo jugaba en la play 2 chipeada boludo con mi primo ivan boludo mientras mirábamos los partidos de boca vs river bld y mi familia era brutalmente reventada a golpes si a boca le metían gol

Gets an extra half star because it's the first (and perhaps only) game I remember where other drivers actually get out of your way if you honk at them.

This is Phil your review guide for Watchmojo.com for all your video games and games review. the game will be reviewing today is "The Godfather" yes, "The Godfather", one of the best movies ever made in terms of mafia. this game is rated M for Mature. its release date is a 21st of March. also keep in mind that the M for Mature again. I will repeat it is very violent. there's a lot of blood in this and a lot of violence - have you seen the Godfather movies? make sense. graphics in this game are unreal. you will be able, like grant the ability, to step in and out of vehicles that are in the day and age of 1945 to about.... 1955. now the Godfather is a setting in 1945 like we all know of mafias. you're part of the Corleone family just like in the movies where you as a character need to establish a certain amount of respect to be able to go on and create a great family to be able to gain the most respect you can in the city of New York. now with all that being said you start off creating your own character. now maybe this sounds a little bit racist to you but you cannot create yourself as a black character you cannot create yourself as a Chinese character this is only Italian because it is based on the fact that you are part of the Italian mob family. nevertheless the realism of the game gets a little cut at a certain point where you get the voice-over from every single single single actor from the movie but in this one Michael which is usually played by Al Pacino for certain amount of contract disputes that we do not know and cannot clarify to you is not part of it but every other voiceover is in there including with a late Marlon Brando.

Now the goal in the game is very important obviously because you need to know what you want to do. now in this game the goal obviously is to establish your family to be the one of the biggest family ever and to take out all the other family and to do so you need to establish respect because if people don't respect you people are not scared of you are intimidated which is a big BIG big part of the game and keep in mind that if you do not do not have the mentality of being Michael in this game you will not be able to play as you go on in the city and try to establish your family's greatness into the city. you have different options into doing that something other games have never offered us this game offers you the possibility of roughing up people intimidating or even expediting people. that is very important because it gives you, the gamer, personal attitudes. if you're the type of person to be calm to intimidate but not rough up because you're not violent there is ways to get through the game without hitting. but you know, in the end this is godfather and somebody will get shot now again.

As you all know this is the best part of the show for me where I give my opinion or my two cents on the game. The Godfather the game now remember our legend - our legend went like this nine to ten is a purchase where again I must repeat, you purchase, you bring home, you finish, you keep and finish again seven to eight is a rent but with late fees so when you go to Blockbuster make sure you get it for seven days because this game is a long game it's established to be about 56 hours of gameplay depending what kind of game you are now as you remember. 5 to 6 is a rent only. now this is a nine to ten and I will explain you why reason being this game not only is finished been 56 hours but can be added to your movie collection it comes with an amazing box set where you can store in your library and have a great décor, a great conversational piece, and also you have different ways of finishing the game or going about the game now if in the first time you play the game you are a violent type remember you can play the game again and try to go through any other ways to try to finish it because keep in mind that the artificial intelligence in this game is very very good because whatever you do and whatever ways you take to do it it will modify the game in the end. so just remember this is Phil from Watchmojo.com. remember it's just a game

The Godfather joins The Warriors in the list of 70s film classics turned bizarrely into console games. Looking forward to adaptations of The Deer Hunter and Kramer vs. Kramer.

Does this game sell you on an offer you can’t refuse?

For me, I’d say it does. At least enough to get some enjoyment out of in one play through. This game certainly doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does a solid job at what it’s supposed to do.

Some people might call it a GTA clone, and I think in most instances that’s true. What The Godfather does to distinguish itself however, is it has a unique feature where you can overtake rackets, warehouses, and even battle rival families.

Another great quality about The Godfather is it’s open world (albeit underutilized). It captures the world of the film authentically and in a way that feels true to where things could be located in the movie. It’s also very atmospheric in the time it’s set in which really helps sell the mafia feel. The game definitely allows for some really intense moments when battling a rival family that is better than yours.

As for things this game didn’t quite land... it’s story. It’s pretty much just the film, but with the protagonist interjected in the plot. It’s cool for nostalgic purposes, but it barely holds up enough on its own. There’s a side plot that has an original story of its own and for the most part it works... but there’s not enough to keep you entertained.

The game also becomes super repetitive after a while and doesn’t find new ways to freshen the gameplay. A subtle yet effective edge the GTA series has over this is the car radio. It seems like a dumb critique, but at least with the GTA games you have some variety in the songs you listen to. Here, The Godfather theme just blares nonstop every time you get in the car. Don’t get me wrong, it can be awesome at times. Especially when you start the game. But once you’re at the end and you’ve been playing for hours, you wanna listen to something else.

Overall it’s a fun game and there are some really cool details that make it an enjoyable play through. I don’t know that I’d return to it anytime soon though.

Poor Johnny he didn't deserve it

the fact this game even fuckin exists and completely straight faces it goes exactly like the “My Dinner with Andre the Video Game” gag from the simpsons. where’s my sunset boulevard game where’s his girl friday the video game?

I've always wanted to roleplay as a handsome italian mafioso with a tragic backstory and this game gave me the chance to be that.

That aside, this game was INSANELY FUN.

easily my favorite grand theft auto clone. the story felt like a fanfiction as your custom character went through scenes of the original movie. i felt this game prioritized side content over main missions because there is a lot to do here. which was great. the feature of leveling up your guns is a great idea, loved it. only complaint i really had was that the game was frustrating with the odd controls, but i still loved this game. a must play if you enjoy open world games.

Truly the bobble bobble 2 of cinematic experiences.

Needless and doesn't understand the movie at all but despite this, well made and quite a bit of fun. If possible play the version that allows you to hire a goon so you can have a bullet sponge to distract enemies when this shit gets fucking hard. When I was ten this map felt like the actual size of New York state.

I felt very free exploring the city, so I never need to travel far in real life, I love blackmail

um exemplo de como fazer um jogo sobre um filme

Podías extorsionar a la peña de las tiendas e ir vestido como un galán. No estaba mal para ser un juego licenciado.
