i'm a weirdo who thought "Can't Wait to be King" wasn't that hard when i was a kid, fight me.

"Be Prepared" on the other hand...

Nice graphics that captures the look of the movie fairly well but that level design is just infuriating and awful to play.

That “I just want to be king” level is horrible.

The Lion King is a prodigious tie-in, released on a perfect console to reproduce all the atmospheres of a Disney classic that has made history. The woody controls and difficulty might annoy some inexperienced players, but anyone who loves platformers should throw themselves unreservedly on this title, as it is a hidden gem that everyone should be able to appreciate.

This game was almost no fun at all. It was just ridiculously difficult for absolutely no reason. The platforming was just atrocious at times. There were times it was difficult to tell where I would jump to or whether I would be able to grab something. I liked the look and music, but the gameplay was awful.

If you like eating cactuses and plucking your nails off, sure play this game. I like it nonetheless

Plays smoothly, looks great, and it isn't all that hard honestly (after multiple playthroughs granted, specifically the monkey stage). Not much I can say, dis is a gud game.

A decently fun platformer back in the day that suddenly becomes incredibly difficult after the first or second level.

5 stars in my childhood mind. I beat this several times in the 90s. Replaying for the first time in years and it's just as brutal as I remember but I don't care it's a perfect game.

Update: finished the game again and I still don't know the proper button combo to throw Scar off the cliff

Aunque la nostalgia juega un papel importante, y es indudable que la dificultad jugaba otro papel en aquella epoca, en muchas partes es injusto, artificial o directamente obtuso.

all i remember is the giraffe level....

Very fun platformer with a unique aesthetic and vibe.

É um jogo bem difícil para crianças. Não recomendaria para meu filho.

Haven't played since I was real young, so my rating is purely based on my memories of how much I liked it then...

u gotta be freakin kidding me with some of this shit

nunca pude pasar la parte de las jirafas

To be clear. I have officially played through and completed both the SNES and Genesis versions of this game. The Genesis game has some of the most horrific controls I’ve experienced in a Sega Genesis game ever. The jump is sticky, everything has a chop to it from changing directions to short/long jumps to environmental hazards like collapsible floors, spring jumping platforms, slides, all of it has a horrible degree of separation from anything I would consider crisp, snappy, smooth and fluid. With an automatic built in rewind button present in the Disney Collection on the Switch, I bounced between the 16 bit consoles and after forcing myself to complete the Sega version of the game (a span of 4-4 1/2 hours) I fired up the SNES version to see what was different. Everything about it is the exact same game and everything about it is different. The sprites are larger. The graphics are brighter. The voice clips are way clearer, the audio entirely is superior and the controls, though still chock full of those slippery edges, performs insanely better. There’s even a few more bonus games in this one. It felt like THIS was how I was supposed to be playing it on the Genesis. Plus I played through this version in just a little over an hour. With that, I’m giving the SNES version a solid 3 but the Genesis version is a hard 1 1/2 earning that first star for being the Lion King and looking/sounding adequate. With that, grab the Disney collection, prepare that rewind trigger button and DEFINITELY play the SNES version of 1994’s The Lion King

"It starts..." was apparently in reference to the pain.

Once you know how to play each stage, it's pretty fun.

Technically a committee of 4 of us completed this game. Regular substitutions were required due to sheer defeat fatigue.

It's a very good looking game but is punishing as fuck.

Genuinely overrated in terms of difficulty. The only level that's actually difficult is Be Prepared. Everything else is just basic platforming. Well, maybe the Hyena level too. It's a puzzle. But this game is a childhood classic for me. Played it a shit ton and was shocked when I learned there were cheats for it.

And if my pal Barbie is reading this, the cheat code spelled out B A R R Y on the controller.

HAHAHA this game sucks and I hate it. I am bad at this game so it is a bad game. This is one of my big 3 for SNES games I hate

Jogo bonito e famoso. Nunca vou entender a dificuldade que as pessoas tem na segunda fase. Não chega a ser uma obra de arte, mas dá pra jogar. Acho que foi o primeiro jogo que eu controlei um quadrúpede e vou dizer que é bem estranho.

did you know that the reason these games had hard levels at the beginning is because when you rented this game in blockbuster, the developers didn't make any from it so they put the hard levels at the beginning so you wouldn't finish it in the time you rented so you had to buy it.

I have no idea if this is true tho
