THIS IS THE FUNNIEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED not really fuck this game

I can't even say I disliked it, but it's shocking how little progression Telltale made when it comes to creating interesting decisions. There are outcomes I tried to evade with any means necessary and the game still forces it on you. In the end it just doesn't matter what you're doing.

There are small bits of dialogue and optional scenes that feel rewarding to "earn" because of your dialogue options and choices, but it's the bare minimum a game like this should provide.

Still, I can't deny being invested in the story pretty quickly and I happened to like the new protagonist almost instantly. Glad I did not buy this around release, though.

David is now close behind Kenny in my list of most hated game characters.
What was the point of any of this?

clem was my gay awakening in this season

Really nice game! I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to play as Clementine, but I was happy when she came around in the story. She is so badass. The zombies scare me :(

Much like the previous episodes, Telltale Games delivers once again with this great narrative story. Unlike others in the past, this game felt less like being pigeonholed into a decision and narrative and that it really did evolve around you.

I was uncertain what to think when the game appeared to be based around people I did not know, however, much like their previous games I got to grow attached to them and can't wait to see what the future might hold for Clementine on her journey.

Weakest in the series for me but still great fun.

Putz!

I don't think The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is as bad as everyone makes it out to be, and I believe that it is a worthy entry in the series. The dynamic between Javier and David was a highlight, and their relationship with each other and their family carried many of the games emotional moments for me. The cast is mostly likable and well-written, but there is an overall feeling that Telltale was playing it safe, as many of the characters ended up being forgettable and didn't stand out when compared to the prior seasons.

However, I do have a major issue with this game, and its the end to both Clementine and Javier's arcs. The continuation of the endings from season 2 were completely disrespected for Clementine, with only the "alone" ending making sense for the story was told here. I wish that Clementine had a larger role in the story, as her inclusion ends up feeling half-hearted.

As for Javier, having 4 possible endings really hurt being able to end the story in a satisfying way. The choice you make that determines the ending that you get is ultimately determined by two choices you make in flashbacks as Clementine. These two choices have no affect on her ending as it will always be the same, so it's frustrating that it makes such an impact on the end to Javier's story. I like when a game has multiple endings if they fit thematically, but here, they distract from the story that Telltale was clearly trying to tell.

This game with mainly Hispanic cast, is full of painfully white voice actors. Episode 3 didn't function for months, and support all but told me to fuck off when I told them reinstalling the game didn't work.
The game itself is pretty good. It's interesting to see Clementine from an outside perspective again. She's clearly been through a lot. The family drama here was welcome, I for one think it was all pretty well written.

Sidelining Clem for a new protagonist and cast of characters is such a fucking stupid decision, it's honestly ballsy. I can't help but respect it. But unless you start with this season or are insane, Clem being a secondary character will color your choices in a way that makes no sense for Javier, the new protagonist. Here I am making Javier put this random new girl he just met over the family he has been with all along, because I've known Clem for two whole seasons and only just met Javier's family. So yeah, ballsy choice from the writers but it's a mistake for me.

Regardless though, I do like the new characters, maybe even more than most of the S2 cast for some reason. They gave me less reasons to mentally say "fuck YOU". Usually at least. Tripp is my bro. But sometimes the characters behaved in ways that felt forced, like the writers forgot what they were doing with the characters before certain scenes or couldn't find a way to sensibly play off the player's choices. Which also kinda makes this season feel like it cares way less about your choices than past ones.

The other big gripe with this season is just how damn short it is. It's even shorter than S2. At least they do this whole flashback thing to help us get to know characters better in its short playtime, which might be why I liked some of the cast more than a chunk of S2's.

I still really enjoyed it overall, but definitely not as good as S1 and it doesn't reach S2's highs either. Would give it 3.75/5 if I could but y'know.

A bland entry in a phenomenal series. Javier and Clementine are the highlights. Every new character other than him is extremely unlikeable and shallow shadows of previous characters in the series.

Finished The Walking Dead's Season 2 really wanting to know what happens to Clementine after the ending of the game.

Imagine my shock when they turned Clementine into a secondary character, and her whole story after Season 2 is a big flashback. I honestly believe that the only reason someone would want to play this game after playing Season 2, is because of Clementine, so, making her an unplayable character is the worst decision they could have made for that game.

Telltale has always done a good job of enabling the player to express itself with the choices they make, even though at the end most of them don't matter at all. However, making choices in flashbacks feels like a laugh to the player's face, because there you know 100% that there's absolutely no way your choices will matter.

The story has no pacing throughout the game, there are major plot holes, most of the characters seem goaless, just reacting to stuff that happens to them, and some of them are the most annoying fucking pieces of shit Telltale has ever wrote.

This game made me glad Telltale got shut down.

definitely my least favorite game in the walking dead series. it's action scenes are fire but idk there's just something missing. lack of old characters maybe? characters aren't too likable but still was pretty fun to play. it just didn't resonate with me as much as the other games did.

It's so bad that it feels like a comedy. For some reason the writers really want you to commit incest/cheating, to the point where the story heavily hints towards that, even if all your choices are polar opposites and you absolutely hate the idea of it which is really funny because most of the playerbase also felt that way. It's not a good story but it can be enjoyable thanks to crowd play.

It’s genuinely impressive how every character in this game (except for Javier and Clementine) are all insanely unlikeable

Javi, Kate, and David need to go to group therapy because holy shit, they are a mess.

Oh yeah, the game is good btw. No idea why it gets so much hate. I guess some of the choices didn't matter, but that's been an issue since the start of the series. It was worse in season 2. Although there are still some dogshit moments here, don't get me wrong. There's one choice at the end of episode 4 that I thought was fantastic initially, only for ep 5 to make that decision meaningless in the lamest way possible. If you know, you know. It's such a stupid moment.

But besides some awful moments here and there, I think this season is underrated. I mean, it has fucking Jesus in it. What else can ya ask for?

I don't even know what they were thinking, they made Clementine a secondary character (and the rest of the characters from previous seasons are barely in it), and you would think that format would allow them to take your choices from previous games into account, especially the final ones of the second game, but no. You get like 5 minutes of exclusive content, and all the roads end up in the same place, so your choices are flushed down the toilet yet again.

As to the new characters, I don't give a shit about them, the story is bad. The main character is allegedly bisexual, but that in practice means that he has a mandatory female love interest, but you can CHOOSE to make him like men too, and this consists of a dialogue choice where you flirt with a guy for 10 seconds. #representation

I love how the wife married a dude only to instantly realize his brother is a million times hotter

THIS is where Telltale's The Walking Dead took a NOSE DIVE for me. despite my love for the games this one will not get a pass. Why? cause it's shit. compared to the others, that is.

Clementine's treatment as a character was not to my liking. might as well be someone else instead of bringing her back for fan service and blocky dialogue.

Main story didn't really have much to present. just a rag tag band of douchebags whom pose as shit parents, really. Brother gets cuckolded (huge nono for me)

Naruto and Sasuke type shit goin on with the brothers and uhhh I don't know. this ain't it. but what little it DID give that was good makes it a meh for me.

played this years ago i dont remember anything about the story. i had to play this on my brothers computer. javier is babygirl to me and thats all that matters
