I wish I liked this game more, because there's a bunch of stuff about it that is kind of awesome and I am just generally super on-board with the concept of a rhythm roguelite. That said I was not fond of how much of the game felt like it was just pattern memorisation, and that feels even more the case trying to return to it months later.
As much as I wanted to like this game, and probably would like it, I suck at rhythm games so I can't get into it. Everything that I've seen from this game that made me want to get it looks fantastic and I'm sure if you take the time to master the controls and play through the game it's fantastic, but it isn't my cup of tea, especially since it has such a high skill ceiling to play.
I have never played a rhythm game before or since I found this game. But what a rhythm game to be my one and only. This game is a dungeon crawl with a nice beat that you can explore to. The monsters are fun to work around, and the spaces random so each run is different. As a drummer, it's great to finally channel my constant drumming to good gamer use. Great for those who love rhythm games, or for someone like me who wants to give them a try.
this game requires you being at least a bit rhythmically tuned, but once you get over the initial bump, the real meat of the game isn't keeping to the beat, but analyzing enemy patterns to the point of perfection - it's infinitely replayable, obvious for a roguelite, but in a way that's not annoying because the game is built around speedrunning and perfecting it, with the harder characters, or playing around with the gimmick characters. the vita version doesn't come with the amplified dlc and gets very laggy at points which would probably drop it down to a 4/5, but in the case of the PC and Switch versions, which are much more definitive versions of the game, i 100% recommend a playthrough. soundtrack is fantastic, game feel is fantastic, all that is really a problem is that the zones feel very samey once you've already done about 10 runthroughs of them already
The was my first "hybrid-rhythm" game I've played, and though I'm not a big fan of rougelikes, I really love this game.
I've never finished it (yet), but I really like the design and combat along with the rhythm-driven gameplay. It does get very difficult at later stages though.
What will still keep me engaged is the fantastic soundtrack which I still listen to every now n then!
