Many people put this game on a pedistal compared to the first entry in the Adventure series, but I personally only enjoyed the Action (Sonic & Shadow) stages. The lack of "Adventure" mode that the first game had also disappoints me, as I feel like this installment could've improved vastly on that front.
I think it's honestly the best 3d Sonic platformer. I even liked the treasure hunt stages but let's be real it's the Chao garden that carries this game to be still a favorite of mine.
This was BORING. What on earth? Why did my friends force me to play this? This may as well be Crash Bandicoot.

The perfect iteration of non-boost 3D Sonic. The hero/dark format works so much better than individual character stories, plus allows for better pacing.
It's not bad, but it's barely average. a fun time sure but the steam port is broken
I did not enjoy this game as much as its legion of fans. The controls felt awful, the story is lackluster, and the level design did not stir any positive feelings in me. The music is great and the voice acting was better than I'd have expected for a game this old, but that's about it. It's not terrible, but there's other Sonic games I'd rather play.
This may be the worst game I've ever played. Buggy to an extreme, hilariously bad cutscenes, and god awful audio mixing.

Hoooly. This game is so cooool. Obviously the highlight of the game is Sonic/Shadow stages, and of course, the mech ones are the worst, but even then, this game is so cool, and it's so fun to try to A-Rank the stages. I played it in Japanese as well, and let me tell you, its PEAK. Aaaand I did NO chao garden, because I HATE IT.
Honestly i like the the alternative gameplays(tails and eggman most of the time, knuckles and rouge sometimes), but i would love this if it was only sonic and shadow. I really don't like last story's level design, but at least the final boss is just awesome

What happens when you have a group of Japanese businessmen and developers try to create a story-driven, mascot platformer to appeal to the youth of the United States in the early 2000's? You get a complete fever dream of a game in concept, story, sound, gameplay, and pretty much everything in between. It hits all the wrong notes in all the right places turning a misguided cacophony into something both surreal and, dare I say it, profound.

La segunda parte de la más grande aventura de Sonic llega a Dreamcast presentándonos nuevos personajes, una emocionante historia y una jugabilidad que no está solo llena de velocidad, sino de mucha acción y desafíos. La forma en la que se va desarrollando la trama es uno de los puntos más fuertes del título, eso sumado a la variedad de mecánicas implementadas para cada personaje jugable lo hacen entretenido y adictivo. Cuenta también con un apartado multijugador y un excelente modo de juego en donde debemos criar a los pequeños Chao, que se convertirá sin lugar a dudas en uno de los modos favoritos de los fans del erizo azul. Un excelente juego que no defraudará a nadie.

When I was a kid I wanted to play this game so bad, really liked Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. This was almost 20 years ago.
