Could have been a cool concept but it is way too short and repetitive, I think this game would work better as more of a handheld than a console game to be honest

Years later, I keep thinking about this game. There's something truly magical about this little Mario spinoff. I'm toasted out of my mind on hopium for a second game, especially since Nintendo keep putting Captain Toad in every new Mario game.

If you dislike this game, you hate fun and fun hates you back. It's just such a delightful little package of charm and cozy fun.

Didn't wanna put away the Wii U quite yet, so I picked up another short-ish game I've had for a while. I did all of the crystal thingies and secret challenges in the main 3 episodes and all the bonus levels up to the endurence mummy one, at which point I called uncle because my fingers were getting tired from holding down the run button. (Fun note, I didn't know there was a run button until after I beat the game, so if any of you were wondering if you can totally 100% the main campaign without running, the answer is yes :P ).

It's the Toad mini-game from Mario 3D World but it's own game! It's actually a really great puzzle game. There's a lot of care and detail put into each tiny level, and getting through the main 62 will certainly take you a while. Then if you aren't done, there are some really punishing extra levels you unlock afterward that you can suffer with :P . The difficulty curve is great. The game is never too hard, but also always keeps pushing you a little bit further.

There are some attention to detail things that blew my mind. For example, you have a headlamp you can turn off with X, and I thought it was just a flavor thing. Turns out, it actually affects enemies' awareness of you! In dark levels, enemies like Shy Guys or Goombas won't notice you nearly as easily if you keep it off, which can be a real life saver. Little things like that made me really like this game.

Verdict: Highly recommended. It's a fantastic puzzle platformer with all the quality you'd expect from Nintendo. Definitely worth a go through if you can find it for like $20 like I did.

Games good but it asked me to get 10 more diamonds to unlock the final levels and i just dont got that dawg in me to do that

this game isn't outright bad, i just really didn't vibe with it. i'd probably feel a lot worse about this one if i paid full price for it.

even though it's decent as a puzzle game, i really hated how you had to actively find diamonds to proceed, and there were only a few levels with actual fun gimmicks that weren't recycled to death. they also padded the hell out of it by reusing bosses and level concepts too.

worst of all though (and the reason i put this game off for almost a decade) this shit just gives me the absolute worst motion sickness of any game i've played. i don't know what it is - just a few minutes of having this thing on my tv was enough to make me feel like i was gonna puke. i know probably nobody else has had this issue with this game, so. sorry for dragging the average score down but that definitely did factor in to how good of a time i had.

there just wasn't anything i really enjoyed about this one - it's got a funky concept, but there are a dozen other puzzle platformers i'd rather play instead.

cute fun toad minigame with good level design, not too much to say about it

This game was very good and deserves a proper sequel. Was also pretty unique for a Mario spinoff

How is this game so good. I don't understand it. Literally all you can do is walk around. You can't even jump or punch stuff. HOW IS IT SO MUCH FUN TO JUST WALK AROUND

Wonderful little puzzle platformer. Got it as an unassuming Christmas gift years ago and was not prepared to fall in love with the game. Played it with my brother and nust had so much fun figuring everything out and 100% the game

J'ai joué à Captain Toad et en vrai c'était cool j'ai passé un bon moment mais sans plus

I really like the little panorama 3d puzzleboxes this game had crafted. However theyre all mind numbingly easy and not very many of them so it is hard to care very much.

JOC HISTÒRIC. SÍ, EN MAJÚSCULES T’HO DIC.

Toad doesn't jump not because he can't, but because he prefers to throw a turnip to his enemies face to face

j'aime bien mais faut réfléchir

This game didn't stick out to me.

Underrated gem of a puzzle game. Just absolutely delightful through and through. Would love a sequel to this.

Bizzare because it has a lot of solid Nintendoisms, it's cute, it's fun and there's a small collectable journey throughout which offers something more to do than just run to the finish. The game varies in difficulty sometimes far too easy and sometimes just right, the second chapter is actually really solid, it quite nicely switches up the classic story that's in a lot of these mario games and offers a bit more difficulty, nothing too hard but compared to chapter 1 it's refreshing.

The problem is this game stagnates and definitely outstays it's welcome, which is strange in such a short game. I aimed to 100% this one but once I saw the target time stuff I just turned it off, I'm not doing all of those levels again. It's just a bit repetitive.

The ending leaves so much to be desired it feels like a marvel movie with it's corny to be continued in another game. Story is here is nothing substantial and I didn't expect it to be! But what an annoying way to end it.

It's a fine game. Especially if you don't push through to the bonus segment which is abysmal. Glad I've played through it but doubt I'll pick it up again.

I didn't really see this coming from Nintendo at all but it was a welcome surprise. The captain toad levels from 3D world were fun, and this game decided to take the little mini game and turn it into a full title. The level design is honestly really good and has many puzzles and collectibles to search/figure out. Boss fights are really enjoyable as well and the game has a lot of charm. Really cool to see such a generic Mario character get his own game along with some extra characterization we had never seen before.

Gameplay - 9

Pretty good and short game, feels repetitive once you get to episode 2.

Kind of an elongated minigame. Not bad at all but almost too simple for its own good. The one thing I can't forgive is not showing the secondary objective on the level select screen often times requiring you play through each level at least 3 times to get the star, do the secondary objective, and find the hidden pixel Toad.
