A pretty solid doom game, I had only played a few levels on pc when I was in high school but never got to finish the entire game but I'm so glad I did it now after being able to play the other games in the series and being able to compare it. I thought the map design was strong, a little too industrial environmentally, I really prefer hell settings as opposed to city settings (just a personal preference) and I just felt like there wasn't a ton of that in here. There were a lot of "What the hell do I do?" moments in the first game and I felt like the linear design of this game really helped with that, environmentally hinting at the next steps instead of a 'figure it out' mentality. This game really loved to flock with enemies, especially map "Tricks and Traps" (Map 8) was one of the standout moments of this game, utterly terrifying and making me sweat bullets. One of the maps that I wasn't a fan of was Map 24, nothing combat-wise, just environmentally very frustrating, walking along teeny-tiny walls, trying not to fall into poison pits when you cant even look down to see where you are, I just got super annoyed after awhile and it was one of the maps I had to replay a few times because if you fall there is absolutely no way to get out in certain areas BUT this gave added quick saving (which I didn't notice until embarrassingly late) which helped a whole lot. Overall I think Doom 64 is stronger than this one but I had a great time playing it.

The foundation of classic Doom is solid, that remains a fact. I'm glad to have beaten Doom II... so that I no longer have to.

Being nice to this game because it introduces the super shotgun and some mainstay monsters feels like an act of blind devotion to me--those additions to Doom's iconography, immortal though they may be, cannot distract me from the fact that the fun was gradually being sucked out of the experience more and more by the level design as the game continued. They aren't ALL stinkers, but I won't be revisiting for full runs for a while on account of the ones that are. Momentum in Doom 1 is never halted like it is numerous times in the back half of Doom 2.

Difficult to really evaluate this one. It very much just is more of the first game with minor differences. I didn't feel like it was any worse or any better (unlike the third game...)

It maintains all of what made the first one great and just adds more to it. It found a great formula and ran with it. If you play one you feel obligated to try the other.

Nothing complex to say, but nothing complex is needed. Even if every level isn't perfect or annoying sometimes, it dosent detract from how fun the experience is.

Yup. It's Doom. But with a Super Shotgun and worse level design.

Still don’t know if FPS games are my thing but hey, more Doom is more Doom.

Worked well on Linux with the remaster

More of the same from Doom 1, but with the legendary Super Shotgun and a bigger cast of enemies. I played it right after Doom 1, which may have caused me to get bored, so I quit playing it. Will probably return someday.

Si e no ,a metà mi aveva già stufato

Feels more like an expansion of Doom I while introducing new weapons and ofc brand new levels and everything. Doesn't surprise me much since it's a sequel released 1 year after the original Doom.

It's still a solid badass game with very great levels (debatably some even better than the first one), but the key research feels more backtrackingish.

All but master levels. Original is better, map design here can go very well or not so well.

Most of the stuff i said in the first games review applies here, however i tend not to like this games main episodes as fun as the first game. Maps arent that great and new enemies are a pain..... but hey super shotgun!

The sequel to the most christian game to ever exist

I prefer the maps in the original, but the modding makes up for it!

Um jogo simplesmente sensacional, músicas incríveis, chefes sensacionais e a gameplay continua incrível, um jogo perfeito

It's like perfect whenever you shoot the double-barrel shotgun, but the game kicks my ass too much lol. Will finish it one day.

horrible level design or im just ass

A Dificuldade do jogo aumentou bem considerável.

It's doom 2, but on modern plataforms now. The port is good, and playing with a controller isn't as bad as i thought it was going to be, but that doesn't change the awful maze like level designs, with tons of traps and always with obnoxious amounts of monsters, of which you barely have much ammo to fight against. Found myself rushing to the end of levels in the backend of the game because i really just couldn't care anymore. One thing this port does really well though is letting you install custom wads directly from doom 2 itself, even if its only curated wads, which bumps the replayability a ton.
