probably the longest review for any game i'll do, because it fucking sucks. first half of the game is not that bad, levels are pretty easy. until you get to operation overlord, THE most known mission in this game. omaha beach feels like you're a target on a shooting range, and it doesn't get better from there. shit ton of enemies being as annoying as possible make later half of this game a misery.

oh and of course, as famous as omaha beach the fucking sniper town. fun fact, positions are actually random so on one playthrough enemy might be in some place and not in the other, they are always hidden in most obscure places, and it's impossible to find them until they shot you and take 25% of your health, so basically you have to save every 5 seconds to have a chance. and on top of that, those fuckers have literal aim bot in their eyes, because they have 100% accuracy. oh, and did i mention lack of health in this level? because there aren't many medkits. another fun fact: my friend who is actually good at fps games gave up on this fucking level on hard after getting through most of the game. it was the only level he finished with cheats. idea is good, but whoever designed this level, should NEVER design levels like this again.

that probably sums up the sniper town. and also return to fort schmertzen. first a level where you can't see shit because of snow, theh another stealth level, finishing with a level where you have to escape an explosion, and under any circumstances you cannot slow down or you'll die. and there are enemies outside waiting to kill you so you cannot escape straight into the railcar.

so yeah, unless you like dying a milion times, i don't recommend it. outside of the game itself, modern windows support is poor. you cannot select a modern resolution, and even with editing game files, everything is tiny and impossible to see.

I played this game first levels like 100 times as a child. Snow level was too difficult though

If I had to shortly describe this game, it is kind of a middle point between Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Call of Duty. It's a lot more arcade than CoD without reaching the mecha-nazi killing gameplay/atmosphere of RtCW, and I think here is where the problems start, as this game seems to lack certain... something.
You can see love put behind every environment and animation, but it feels like something was cut by an EA that even at the time kind of forgot what the name "Electronic Arts" meant. A more specific example can be the blood: this game has a complete lack of any gore or blood. And asking for it is not just a whim, since this is a game about the most violent war in humanities' history, and taking the biggest symbol of violence, the liquid red, out of it just to get a lower PEGI and make it more marketable is almost disrespectful. Signs of the creators wanting to make something that truly resemble this conflict are there, like the numerous different stagger animations that the enemies have, which can be really brutal and emotional.
That aside, how does this game play? Playing it simple; the level design in this game changes inconsistently between good, well paced levels to the most absurdly broken, insane, unfair and dumb levels ever made in a shooter. Featuring never-stopping enemies from front and back, quick reaction time never-stopping high damage and infinite flinch stational heavy machinegun soldiers, complete sections without any kind of healthpacks and worst of all: absolutely impossible to spot speed-firing respawning snipers which hide behind the most obstructively-textured bushes ever.
In conclusion: Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is a an inconsistent game both in gameplay and presentation, which feels like a fairly generic and commercial WW2 experience which offer much of value in 2023 outside of revisiting an important game and precursor for the tendencies from the early 2000's.

The game that led to Call of Duty. It was the best WW2 game to date at the time and still is one of the best WW2 games.

I was looking at what Medal of honor games I have played because I need to finish a couple on the ps2 to progress on my physical collection and I noticed this wasn't logged but I am pretty sure I have finished this lol and I looked at a walkthrough to make sure and yah i remember this game but also every war game of this time looks the same and I am just afraid I am cheating myself by login this 💀 and then i noticed i have pacific assault logged and iam like ok did i log the wrong game but then i look a walkthrough for that one and i pretty sure i remember those boring ass turret sections 💀💀💀 so I am just gonna assume i did finish both and if i didn't well my life is a lie... this is really the type of problem only a video game addict has i have a problem 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

This is to me what RPGs are to the people that played games in 90s. I was 7 years old and between the difficulty that one feels as a kid and the awe inspiring setpieces such as the Omaha Beach it became a monumental experience and defined what a great immersive game means for me.

Call of Duty which was released a year later surpassed it in almost every aspect but the primal impact of playing a World War shooter, well, a 3D shooter that is not Doom or Wolfenstein, for the first time in my life would never be repeated. For this reason alone, this is to me a gaming standard and this is why I still prefer the gameplay aspects over the RPG aspects for example in Fallout 4 and why I prefer it over New Vegas, which had a horribly boring gameplay and terrible shooting mechanics even for its time.

i.e.: I never played Baldur's Gate or sat with friends to a session of Dungeons and Dragons. But I grew up with Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, they are to me my golden age of computer gaming.

This made me and all my friends very happy kids. I remain undefeated (by middle schoolers) with a sniper. mafish bawazeek ya kapten

Rated entirely based on affective memory, I really was a happy kid.

I remember really liking it but it was so long ago, it came free with my pc after our Windows XP finally gave its last breaths and we bought a new computer.

Linear WWII corridor shooter with repetitive levels and primitive enemy AI #1000. Enemies seem to appear in areas you've already cleared out, which leads to a lot of cheap deaths.

I spent many a day as a young kid playing this on the family desktop. Best of the franchise imo.

Revolutionary or whatever. Got filtered by sniper level. RIP

Good FPS game! Good MoH installment.

This game aged like hot milk. Call Of Duty 1 is better in literally every. Single. Way. Play that instead.

With my game crashing after about 45% of the way through the game, I'm deciding to call it quits.

It feels a bit harsh to give such an influential and important title a 2/5, but I really just wasn't having fun with this one, it was just boring honestly.

So if you don't know, a lot of the people that made this went on to make Call of Duty, and you can really feel that. This game feels like it's in a bit of an identity crisis, as it sometimes feels like it's trying to be a new MoH1 but lacks the original charm, then at other times feels like Call of Duty 0.5.

The gun-play feels and sounds decent enough with a very run-and-gun feel to it but it isn't complimented well by the slow movement, some of the most punishing "flinching upon being hit" I've ever seen, and a dated health system. it's like they were at an impasse and couldn't decide what type of FPS they wanted to make. This was of course later figured out with CoD 1, which does everything this game does but better.

Level design is boring and often feels unfair. You will either be clearing out room after room, which generally just feels like proto-CoD gameplay, or you'll be peaking corners across massive open areas with basically no cover. This combined with enemy Ai that has seemingly limitless view distance and no drop in accuracy depending on their distance, results in slowly moving from corner to corner while sniping enemies here and there, which I personally find to be a real snoozer of a loop.

There seems to be a lack of variety and not enough set-pieces to carry this campaign either. The only notable one is D-Day, which is fine enough, it's lost it's luster a bit with me considering later games do it better, but this is a pretty good D-Day mission. Other than that though, it's just pretty generic WW2 missions that just feel uninspired. I skimmed through a youtube video of a playthrough and sure enough, it just looks like more of the same room clearing and corner peaking for another couple hours, thus I just have no real reason to keep playing.

Usually when I abandon a game it's because I'm heavily disliking it, but this one is really not that bad. I think it's a perfectly serviceable WW2 shooter, but there is absolutely nothing remarkable about it and you have no reason to ever play this over other WW2 FPS's.

Note: I own and planned on playing the expansions but they also just look like more of the same dull gameplay, so I guess I won't be doing that.

Also of note: this game does not play well with modern OS's, I had to get some patches for it.

Most everything leads back this one's Stalingrad multiplayer demo. The choke-hold that goddamned map had on us, even long after the full game was released, the demo player base was thrilling. And Gamespy Arcade memories, etc. etc.

This is effectively the progenitor of the Call of Duty series, but it has a compelling and very well-paced campaign that stands tall among its contemporaries along with stellar sound design and great mission variety, with guns that feel just right given their historical setting.

Didn't get my time into the singleplayer but in the other hand the multiplayer made me go berserk, it's really fun and servers are still up even today! well, if you use a third party launcher from another site because EA closed the official servers.

As with Call of Duty 2, my father talked me into playing this game. Very interesting shooter, not much of a story but a good game for the time

OK SQUAD LISTEN UP. THIS IS THE RESCUE MISSION SO WATCH YOUR FIRE

The game is pretty good but at the end, especially the sniper level, it becomes a mess. It's a pity because the atmosphere work is quite good and the gameplay is correct. It remains a good game.

Awesome game if you don't mind someone shooting you from literally nowhere and its totaly your fault.
