Great chara creator mode and gorgeous artwork used on the individual episodes. It's one of those fighting games that goes for fun rather than overly deep combat mechanics. Tekken this ain't, but it should not be anyways, It's a colorful medieval fantasy game with a simple ass concept made more interesting by a roster composed by a bunch of hunks (let me top you, Groh) and gaslite gatekeep girlbosses. (Let me bottom for you, Ivy).

Soul Calibur is one of my favorite fighting games, I played a lot of the games and be able to grow attached to its great characters and bizzarre representation of "completely accurate historical events".

I am happy to confirm that Soul calibur 6 is one of the best entries in the franchise: it is able to resurrect the series after the weird the decision which led to SCV.
The gameplay is refined and merges a lot of the cool features that made it a classic in the first place. Brinngs back and even evolves the classical fighters while also bringing some great newcomers and exciting guest characters.

It has some flaws: the customization and the "Create a Character" mode is not as rich as previous titles, the story mode feels unrefined at times, and the weird decisions behind the roster size and DLC release raised a bunch of eyebrows at the time.

But aside from that, it is a blast, both alone and with friends. An really underrated Namco title. Big recommendations from me!

Better than Tekken only because I'm actually decent at this game.

SoulCalibur VI delivers a solid fighting experience with its weapon-based combat, but it also introduces a surprising element with the inclusion of Karate moves. Despite the game primarily focusing on weapon-based combat, the addition of Karate adds a refreshing twist to the gameplay, allowing players to mix martial arts techniques with traditional weapon attacks.

The game's decision to reset the timeline and introduce new characters like Patrokalos was met with mixed reactions, particularly from fans of Siegfried, who felt overshadowed by the new protagonist. However, this change breathes new life into the series, offering a fresh narrative direction and exciting gameplay possibilities.

Overall, SoulCalibur VI is a strong entry in the series, combining solid fighting mechanics with unexpected twists that keep the gameplay engaging and exciting.

Score: 8/10

"The one with the funny editor".

A very fun and goofy 3D fighting game. An alternative if Tekken isn't your speed. Make dumb characters and fight your friends.

carried by the character creator

No rushdown allowed. Only poke into sidestep.
Never put a meterless "kill all the momentum of the match so both players can watch a cutscene" button in a fighting game.

these do not hit like they used too

these cut scenes suck ass and this story doesnt really help either

VO is terrible but the custom characters are the only thing saving it slightly

Its awesome! Not better than SC2 though!

A solid entry to the SoulCalibur series.
Similarly to the previous games, the story mode is unfortunately boring at best, but everything else is pretty great.

Gameplay-wise, it's fun and varied, the character roster is nice and the character designs are creative and cool.

Customization is top tier as always, there are so many things you can customize in your characters, it's easily one of the best parts of the game.

Also, the amount of content is satisfying, and the multiplayer is decent.

Personally I'm not really a fan of the fact that many characters are paid DLC, I wish there was a progression system where you can unlock characters, but oh well...
Overall I think this game is genuinely fun, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.

Mechanically sound, neutral-game focused, and a very high skill ceiling. The frame data is easy to learn and common sense. Playing this game competitively can either be the most rewarding or most frustrating experience, but regardless it’s constant knowledge checking. Calibur 6 is very deep and offers pretty much every play style archetype from traditional FG’s plus free-form 3D movement. Sometimes a bit frustrating with hit boxes and defense mechanics (counter hit retracking, reversal edge, and unstoppable “vertical” hit boxes come to mind first).

The games way too dead now or I’d recommend everybody play it.we will never get a weapons based 3d fighter this good again

i like it but it's hard to praise it much when it feels so empty for some reason

Great game until I went onto multiplayer and got immediately reminded I am nothing but a baby to fighting games

One of my most loved game series, I was excited when this was announced after quite a long dry-spell - and the idea of a reboot was something I was intrigued by.

The combat gameplay itself felt like a standard progression from it's predecessor, but I had a few issues with the story mode/s and the implementation of the reboot.

Rather than a deliberate artistic choice made by the writers, it felt more of a reaction to how Soul Calibur V was received than anything else, like they were saying 'We're really sorry about that, here's more of the same.' I get it from a business standpoint, but it didn't make much sense to me narratively - particularly as the game doesn't make it abundantly clear if it's just a retelling or a new timeline. Turns out it is actually a new timeline, but no explanation is given as to how or why that's happened. If this series continues perhaps this will become clear but for now I'm scratching my head.

Regardless, the concept of a reboot holds a lot of potential for a series like this that has such a lore and story to it - but I do not feel that the potential was met. I think it is well known the development for this game was rushed and so it makes sense that they focused on the core gameplay and character creation above else.

To look at positives, it delivers what you would expect from a modern generation Soul Calibur game well enough.

I do hope that if this series continues they give it the love and attention it deserves, and have the courage to take a few risks.

No longer the best fighting game with 2B in it. I'm sorry I don't make the rules

dude I fucking love sidestepping
