Hero and Banjo-Kazooie were the best picks because of popularity but other than that I didn't even know who Terry or Byleth were and in my opinion I think they are just bland overall (BK is too but again, they were heavily requested) Joker is fine tho no hard feelings against that inclusion. For movesets the really only truly unique one is Hero's and maybe Jokers... competitive wise Joker, Terry and Byleth are the most viable and the other two are mid tier at best (Hero low high tier MAYBE (I play competitively btw))
Ultimate didn't have many new fighters at launch due to it's enormous scale, which is entirely understandable. But even so, I was starving for new fighters and when jonkler was teased I was excirted. prior to his announcement I never even played a persona title nevertheless I was still excited just to see a brand new character in this game. Hero was leaked befoore the direct so I expected him to show up and wasn't very excited or surpised. but in the same direct Banjo showed up and surprised the fuck ouit of me. I was NOT expected that. and in the same direct they reveealed 'BOTW 2' no less. Terry was cool, I always love to see fighting game rep in a smash game. I love taking a moveset and translating it to a different game, similar to how they tackled akuma in tekken or ryu in ssb4. Byleth fucking sucks I was floored when i watched that reveal. I was in fucking 2nd period math class and couldn't believe my eyes.
Overall it was solid. Really strange and unexopected chopices that really don't have much chemistry with each other, but variety.

The reveal of some of these characters was so good. I didn't know who Terry was prior, but I sure as hell do now. The characters all play great in their own ways, and I don't think it could have gone better. And yes, Byleth was a good addition. Moving on.
I give Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Fighters Pass a light 8!

This is where Smash Ultimate peaked in my opinion.
Joker: a bit of a overhyped original game, but cool addition.
Hero: very big franchise, the alts representing the franchise as a whole instead of just being DQXI promotion helps. Music sucks, though.
Banjo & Kazooie: awesome addition despite the not so great moveset execution. Only of two DLC characters that feels like fanservice was the main goal.
Terry: favorite pack ever for how much representation of SNK franchises there is.
Byleth: I like Three Houses and what they did with the character, but the trailer sucked and it was the most scummy thing to repeat a Corrin situation.
