My university offers a mechanical engineering class on this game

At first I was skeptical of this game just feeling like BOTW, but it really is just a complete upgrade and feels totally different. Just take everything you liked about BOTW and multiply that by 5 and this is what you get.

BOTW but even better. Puzzles, mechanics, open world, beautiful game and series.

Such a great game but also such a disappointment. When this got announced, I knew in my heart what a bad idea it would be for them to reuse the game world from BOTW. This is like the worst possible outcome for that specific fear. That being said, they get a lot right here. It's certainly a BETTER game than BOTW. I don't know if it's a more SPECIAL game, but it's certainly better. The ending fucking rocks though. This blows BOTW's story and set pieces out of the water. Soundtrack goes nuts too.

somewhat improved on the previous game making it even more fun like via combat and exploration

6/10
Breath of the wild shitty dlc
It got boring after main story tbh

even with every criticism i could think of, there is still a stupid child within me who gets giddy at every little thing in this game. it's just impossible for me to not absolutely adore this game

I took time for my thoughts to sink in for TOTK, and didn't want to rush into any conclusions. I even took my time playing it here and there after I've beaten the game and I have to say, this is one of the best Zelda games I have ever played, probably one of the best of all time.

(An attempt will be made to not go too long lol)

First the gameplay, it basically took everything that worked in BOTW and essentially upgraded it. Climbing and traversing everywhere you can potentially see in the horizon is always a treat, and finding and experimenting with new weapons was always fun. It also has more enemies to go up against like walking trees and all the way up to the three headed Gleeoks in different regions of the game.
And new mechanics were replaced with fusing weapons or building new ways to defend yourself or make a tank! There's so many possibilities and you come to understand that there's more happening under the hood of TOTK.
The dungeons are also improved, although they still may not be like how they once used to be in the classic 3D Zeldas, but instead it's more of a clever blend of classic and botw styles, and it plays quite well. Traversing to the dungeons are also very cool this time, big example is the Wind Temple, one of the best parts of the game.
Boss fights too! They've gotten a big glowup this time too, they can be challenging but also super interesting too, and they give a "big fight feeling" when you get to where the bosses are, it's all fantastic. Also there's a whole SKY to explore, AND a whole UNDERGROUND as well, there's so much game and so much to do, it's quite shocking honestly...idk how the Switch just doesn't explode already, lol.
The BIG ting i want to talk about it sound and music, because it doesn't seem there is much of it, but truly they've done an exquisite job on all fronts here. Sound ambience is amazing here, love hearing all the small intricacies of smaller instruments to handle different type of tension. Also they cleverly use different mixes of iconic Zelda songs to make a grander scale epic. And the way they handle the more intense music and how it can change the mood from scene to scene, whether it's a crazy boss battle or just going to different levels of a dungeon, it's done perfectly and it's one of those few games they i happily put headphones on for.
It's one of the GOATs and it show it off in style. Idk what the next Zelda game will be, but right now this one sets a standard to what an Open World Zelda game should be!

I loved BOTW, really did. At first this was giving it to me the same way but 3/4 of the way in the game I just mentally disconnected. The story/plot is half assed crap. The great gameplay really saves the day though.

It's honestly insane this game works

Very Very good, endless hours of entertainment, going for the 100% run. Strong rec if you like the first one, it improves on the dungeons and plotline, putting them more in line with classic zelda.

botw but better.
i might have the worst inventions ever though.

I really respect what Nintendo did with Tears of the Kingdom and I enjoyed my 30 or so hours with the game. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough to keep me hooked after that. I found the cutscenes, story beats, and temples to be slightly repetitive and it wasn't enough to keep me engaged past that.

suuper duper fun game the story is heartwarming asf im so glad shit happened this really was our tears of the kingdom. but also i went the entire fucking game not knowing you can get more batteries and nobody even told me i had to figure it out by seeing a twitter clip AFTER i beat the game where they had more htan 1 and i looked it up why is it so off hte beaten path. combat still sucks from botw but exploration is goated and the new gimmick is kind of mid but i like it . also fuck you aonuma for not having any continuity in your games WE WANT LORE CONTINUITY MAN!!!! great game go play it

Definitely an improvement over BOTW, the dungeons feel a lot more like actual dungeons this time and the shrines are more interesting, playing around with all the devices to see what you can build is a lot of fun.

Great continuation of BotW. Love the heavier emphasis on story in the game, especially if you collect the tears in order. One of the best Master Sword unsheathing in the series. One of the best Ganon sequences as well.

Another instance of "more of the same", but that not being a bad thing. Link takes to the skies to track down what happened to Zelda, and to save the world from a familiar foe. The new mechanics of building start off super interesting, but slowly become more a nuisance as you complete more and more shrines.

Voltar para Hyrule é sempre bom, e voltar pra Hyrule de Breath of the Wild é ainda melhor.

A lista tá meio grande.

Yea. This is one of the best games ever

10/10 best game on the switch no doubt

This was just BOTW but better. More variety in enemies which was my biggest complaint and the underground sections and sky sections spiced it up just enough. It's hard to reuse an old world and make it interesting but I think they did a really good job. The gameplay cycle is an interesting one but it does get a bit repetitive after 100 or so hours, but I did do all the shrines and lightroots so I must have not hated it haha. These days I'm much more interested in a more concise gaming experience so that's also mostly perference. I remember the shrines from BOTW being more interesting and creative, but I could be mistaken. These ones were a lot easier to cheat but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. It was obvious being able to make your own solutions was an intentional choice on the developers' part, but sometimes I could tell that the "correct solution" would have been more satisfying. Great game, don't think they could pull off another one of these though. If they did it would have to have a completely different setting. I would love to see a majoras mask sequel set in an open world termina with a ton of masks to collect, but that's probably never gonna happen :(

Somehow surpassed its predecessor in world design, combat and side content in general, unfortunately though the main dungeons, although much more characteristic in concept, have not increased at all in complexity and the 'final dungeon' was not as good as in the first game.
(Still my favorite game of all time)

This review contains spoilers

I think everyone had really high expectations for this one, but in my opinion, this game is not nearly as good as the first game is.

I believe it all comes down to repetition and the execution. This is by all accounts Breath of the Wild but bigger, longer and uncut.

I wasn't doubting that I would be playing in the same map again, but somehow I was expecting to do something at least slightly different than unlocking every single shrine in Hyrule yet again. AND THEN SOME, because you also have to do that in the depths and the sky islands, so there is double the busy work.

Speaking of, I believe that both the depths and the sky islands were kind of disappointing, for different reasons. The sky islands were the selling point of the game and yet, there are barely any of them in the sky and they barely have any relevance in the game outside of the few that are required to progress the story.

Most of the islands in the sky will be tiny pieces of land, where really nothing interesting is going on and there isn't much to do in them, other than to find one or two chests and do a single puzzle to unlock a shrine.

There was this one time when I was exploring a set of floating islands completely covered inside an infinite thunderstorm; I think I wasn't even supposed to be up there without clearing the storm first, since I couldn't see shit, but this was one of the only times I actually felt like these islands were giving me an actual challenge. I ended up getting to the end of those islands and found the beginning of a side quest that would lead me to unlock Mineru's construct, all by complete accident.

The depths on the other hand, I feel like suffer from the opposite problem...And also the same problem. The depths are absolutely MASSIVE and I'm so glad they kept it as a secret instead of revealing them in the trailers....However, once you jump down one chasm, it feels like you have jumped down every single one.

Yes, the depths are big and dark and scary, but once the novelty wears off, you notice that there really isn't much to do down there other than....Find light roots. I just feel like this was such a wasted opportunity; there isn't anything all that scary down there and at most, I only remember seeing one type of new enemy down there...The rest were just gloomy re-skins of the same enemies you encounter on Hyrule...

Maybe they should've kept the weird monster hands exclusive to the depths, or the Ganon clone...And just MAKE NEW THREATS! The depths as they are just feel like Hyrule 2.0 but with the lights off and far less things to interact outside of a few Yiga Clan hideouts and some ancient mines. For the most part you are just going to be walking...or flying on your flying bike...or riding a Zonai car...all just to get to the next light root.

I still like these inclusions, don't get me wrong; this game sure has more content than BotW...But is it really all that worth it...? When it is this barebones, all it does for me is just make this game way longer than it needs to be and doesn't make me want to replay it the same way I replayed BotW.

I also don't know what the fuck people is on about, saying that the temples here are better than in BotW. I skipped almost the entire fire temple just by abusing my flying bike (Except for the boss, obviously), and the water temple is a complete fucking joke.

I simply preferred the divine beasts and how each one did require you to use their respective gimmicks to get past certain sections of the temple or solve certain puzzles in order to get to the terminals. Here, except for maybe the air temple, all of these feel half cooked...And the fire temple relies heavily on you not upgrading your Zonai battery beforehand so you can just cheese through the entire thing the way I did.

The story also sucks but you already know about that...Uhh...I will say tho, just to say something positive about this game that I love lol. The Zonai abilities are pretty cool (Even if they got rid of bomb jumps), the construction aspect really changes the whole game, the shrines are better than in BotW and the way you get to Ganon is absolutely perfect...And that final fight?

I'm sorry, but the final fight against Ganon is the coolest shit this franchise has ever done. When you are in the middle of fighting him and then he shows his second form...And the health bar EXTENDS ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN?! Rawest shit, chills every time.

The dragon part of the fight sucks tho. Just to balance it out with some negativity lol, I know I haven't been negative enough in this review.

Overall, I still loved this game and unlocked the entire map in Hyrule, the sky islands and the depths. I just feel like this game could've been more and they got really close...The ideas were there, they just didn't quite get there.

I still recommend it if you haven't played it, and you probably will enjoy it more if you didn't already play Breath of the Wild.

If nothing else...At least play it for Purah, my god is she hot.
